He was an alternate only by league error.

And the day I see Desmond Clark catch pass over the middle and attempt to
stiff arm the 5-9 185lb corner in front of him instead of just falling down, is the day
I will cut him some slack.

EDIT: I didn't see TLR's post

NOO!!!!

He was invited to go to Honalulu by mistake because they thought he was a long snapper.

But he was voted to be a probowl alternate for real... and if the four or five tight ends in front of him got hurt he would have been at the probowl

It had to be the player and coach vote that got him there, too... because you know no Bears fans voted for him.

maybe he does some of the lest glamorous things well... like blocking... or selling fakes...

stuff the guys he plays against and the coaches who scheme against recognize, but us fans tend to miss.
[/b]

Or the most likely scenario is they drew his name out of a hat

I think I'll name my first born son Desmond.

125 yards, 2tds... and I'm not just bringing this up because he is on my fantasy teams

no no no no....Is it me or is he the only TE to go down on first contact no matter who is hitting him? Now granted he has had a good year and is making the catches that he would normally drop (sometimes) but man the fact that he goes down almost immediately after the catch tells me the postion can be upgraded.....And I tell you I was stunned....STUNNED I say that he caught that pass over the middle and hung on to the ball on his second TD catch......

Really I don't think that is much of a problem at all. Ninety percent of the time when they are going to Clark, he gets the first down just by catching it. So I really don't mind him dropping on first contact. I think it might even be by design with him... why risk a fumble? or an injury to a guy who is up their in football years and doesn't have a competent back up?

Besides, you'll notice when he is near the endzone he will make that extra push past the contact for the TD.

I'm not saying they shouldn't upgrade the position. We've seen teams with two good TE have a lot of success this season, and Des is old and injury prone. I just bumped this thread because Des had a hell of a game, both running routes and blocking, and I think he should get some love for it.

yeah ive seen maybe 3 times where he has carried people into the endzone with him to get that td. Clark has shut a lot of critics/fans up with his play this season.
