true, remember griese is playing against the second team. Not sayint that he sucks or anything. But in that position griese has everything to win and grossman has everything to lose, I still think Grossman should be the starter, but im also glad greise is doing good andwaiting in the wings...

Grossman looked better, but Griese still looks like he should get a a drive or two with the 1's and take over the position.
My honest evaluation of Rex is that he will eventually be a slightly better QB than average (if he remains healthy). Griese is a better than average QB. Why go through the growing pains to develop a guy that is already on our team? Especially if our defense has a small window of being dominate.

Grossman looked good the first half. The 3 passes he made in the 2nd half were bad however. He started to force the ball and just like always when he starts forcing BAD THINGS HAPPEN. If this kid can't get the "gunslinger" mentality under control he needs to ride the pine.

Most of his passes in the first half were on target. No he didn't look like a probowler, but I'm just not buying the whole "GRIESE IS THE SAVIOR OH MY GODZ" thing. I remember Quinn looking like a stud with the second team a couple years ago. Orton looked like a stud with the 3's last year. We'll see what happens when the season starts, because Grossman didn't play badly enough to lose his job.
And buy the way, my tv is a brand new 42" plasma baby and if it has the power to make bad QB's look good, then I'm all for it.

Did you watch the game in HD?

exactly.
grossman looked like fine dog****. again. kid slick zippin' **** all up and down the field when it doesn't matter. sammy sosa syndrome. threw some lasers inside double coverage for those key 2nd and 10's, 3rd and longs. wow. call a doctor. had a couple dropped passes, had a couple wideouts save his *** on some errant throws. under/over-threw, rinse/repeat. same ****, different weekend. the arguement of dropped balls and and "clutch" first downs can roll, again. fact is, he's a 50 yard line hero, nothing more. inside the 20 he puts his head up his *** and he literally grows a vagina. he needs to take his snatch to the bench. i'm sick of playing soccer inside 30 yards, and i'm sick of being spoonfed this "give him time" bull**** every week. i'd like to spoonfeed some "size 11 in the ***" to the coaches and JA if they don't make the switch.
you play the best you have available at each position in order to win football games, and the Boulder boozer is the best we've got right now....
....ever, actually.

The Good:
Grossman -
was spot on with has passes. Berrian didn't help him with a ****ty game. A terrible drop
and he sat on his route allowing Rolle to pick off Grossman. Grossman was also hamstrung by stupid false
start penalties.
Brian Griese - One of the most accurate passers in the NFL IMO. Lets just say the Bears QB situation
is in the best shape probably since 95.
Muhammed. Made some tough catches. I expect a rebound season for him.
Gabe Reid. Why he isn't the starting TE baffles my mind.
Mark Bradley I admit my error by saying he might be done. Took a pass over the middle and showed
some of that burst of his for a nice gain. He is slowly making it back. Should be pushing Berrian again for
the starting job.
The Bad:
The running game. What the hell is going on here. The line isn't exploding off the ball at all. Granted our
backs need to make some plays themselves. If Ron Turner continues to abandone the run game during the regular season, he should be run out of town.
Adrian Peterson. What a dissapointment this guy has been. He had a chance to shine this preaseason and has been a total dud. IMO The Bears need to get a smaller explsoive back as a change up to Benson/Jones.(Garrett Wolfe comes to mind)
Tommie Harris He has been consistnely blown off the LOS this preason. No pass rush up the middle.
He needs to turn it on.
The Ugly:
Desmond Clark. Enough said. Why is he on a NFL roster?
Dante Wesely. 4 PI calls. 1 was a terrible call, 1 was questionable. The other 2, he mugged the guy.
What is going thru his head out there.
Chis Harris Terrible game. Completely missed a tacke inside the 10 yard line and just sat there
with a thump up his rear end instead of jumping a route to break up a pass. Daniel Manning is my starting
FS opening day

show me one on target deep ball rex grossman has thrown this pre-season. all i want to see is one. you wont find one.
grossman is comfortable throwing two routes, the skinny post/slant and the deep out. his fades/sideline routes are absolutely terrible and in the nfl to be successful you need to be able to complete a deep ball when the opportunity presents itself.

so you're agreeing that grossman looked bad then

he has been flat out terrible inside the 20 yardline during every opportunity this pre-season. if he actually tried to throw his deep passes with touch he may be better, but he tries to make every pass on a line, which is just disastrous.
i hope the 4th and 1 call made everyone want to vomit as well. the bears claim to be an in-between the tackles running team and they run some fake fullback option pitch (without having anybody seal off the left end of the line of scrimmage) at the end of the first half, i was literally laughing in my seat at the stadium

Okay, so I was pissed off and frustrated yesterday and really couldn't respond with a clear mind. I got up this morning, went right back to my DVR, and replayed the entire game. Here were my observatiions:
Grossman played very well in the first half of yesterday's game. I was incredibly frustrated with him yesterday, but I really think that it was frustration with the whole team being projected on to Grossman. His passes in the first half were spot-on. The only clear mistake that he made was the fumbled snap from center. That has to be stopped. He dropped off a little bit in the second half and the interception was a big mistake. Berrian might have run a bad route, but it was not a good pass either. Overall, I thought that Grossman's performance was his best of the preseason, and sadly it was one of the only highlights of yesterday's game.
Griese played well again. His passes were accurate though unspectacular. He was impressive, but honestly if you scout only the player in yesterday's game and not the whole team, Grossman did just about as well as Griese. The two perfect passes that hit Berrian and Muhammad in the hands and were dropped would have made Grossman's performance look very different.
My conclusion after rewatching the entire game play-by-play is that the QB position actually performed quite well for the Bears against Arizona.
Now the bad... EVERYTHING ELSE!
The Offensive line had a HORRID game. The penalties were absolutely absurd. I wholeheartedly believe that if not for the penalties the starting ofense could very easily have scored a TD or maybe 2. That kind of lack of discipline from a veteran offensive line is RIDICULOUS. I am going to put this one on Lovie and his training camp. The entire time this team has been talking like they are going to the superbowl and taking it easy in camp as if they have everything down. They do not! Lovie has to get this fixed ASAP.
Secondly, the run blocking has been non-existent for the starting unit in 3 games. They are not opening holes and giving the RBs nothing to work with. If the starting Oline continues to play this poorly, I unfortunately see this year becoming a repeat of 2002. IMO, the Oline singlehandedly takes the biggest blame for the inefficiency of this offense so far. It's just inexcusable from a group of veterans.
The defense...again looked horrible. Okay, that might be an exxageration, but given the expectations they did look horrible. This is a defense that is supposed to be the best in the league, but so far teams have freely converted on 3rd and very long. It's not even difficult for them. It was distubring to see the ease with which the Cardinals could get down the field against the Bears. If the Bears are not a top 5 defense this year, it's going to be a long season.
As for special teams...I honestly expected more of the coverage teams. They have been decent, but they have given up quite a few big returns. The long one from last night was called back due to holding, but honestly that was poor coverage. I really expected more and still hope for better. The kicking and returns have looked good, IMO. I have no real complaints about that aspect.
In conclusion, the whole team has a lot of work left. The performance of the team was very disappointing. I thought both QBs did a good job, but I really can't say that of anyone else (okay fine, Robbie Gould).
