Manning plays quite a bit now, so I agree he'll eventually replace him and he is both fast and hits hard, he can cover much better than Harris IMO. Good to have both players though.
I just got back from the game and my thoughts are that the Bears and Turner understand well how to beat a cover 2 defense because they play against the best one in the league all training camp long. Detroit insisted on playing 1 safety in the box and rolling the other safety over to double Moose almost on every play. My son and I kept saying that if they play this defense like that all day that Berrian and the tight ends would be wide open , most of the time and they were. If Minnesota next week does the same thing, then Grossman will have to beat them in the same way. This is why the running game has been slow to come around this year. Last week Detroit did the same thing and held Alexander in check too, they have a solid run defense and are determined to stop the run first and dare the QB to beat them throwing the ball. Grossman had his best game as a Pro, but the receivers gained a lot of separation before they caught it and Rex had some fairly easy tosses. The receivers played better as a group than I've seen from Bear receivers since Conway and Graham caught balls from Erik Kramer. That was great to see!
And how about the tight ends? 3 TD's, are you kidding me, that's a first. Best damn game by Bear TE's since Ditka. No bull**** either.
This defense is sick, speed, speed and more speed. I think they can play better too because the DB's will get quicker help as Daniel Manning gets more playing time, he's going to become a great safety in this league. CB skills and he can really hit. They've given up 7 pts total in 2 games, I don't care who you're playing that's hard to do.
Special teams covered kicks well today and Brendan Ayanbandejo is an absolute stud at covering kicks. How about that block by Wesley on that punt return? Hester screwed up that return and a penalty on the same play didn't help either, but that was a great leveling block. Robbie Gould is still perfect on the season and kicked 2 balls into the endzone on kickoffs, not bad. Maynard didn't have to punt much, but was good when he did.
I give the Bears and A+ for todays dominating *** whoopin' and the Vikings are ****ing next! The Bears only lost to them at the end of the year because they sat everyone out of that game, it's pay back time.
