The preparation would be the plays they made during that drive to limit gains, there was one reception where urlacher chased down the receiver and if he hadn't done that and the safety had tackled him instead, the play would have probably been about 10 yards longer and thus the field goal would have been that much easier to get.

Well, yeah, but I think he was speaking of the Niners and their kicker. They prepared, but that preperation didnt reach to the opportunity that they recieved.
