Hidden at the back of the Bears' locker room, Dirk Johnson (former Philadelphia Eagle) appeared ready to slip out of town just as quietly as he had come in. The veteran signed a one-week contract with the Bears on Saturday, understanding the team probably needed him only for Sunday's game against Kansas City. He delivered in place of injured Brad Maynard, booting four punts for a 39.3-yard average, including a 60-yarder. "It was really neat just to be a part of it for one week,'' Johnson said. "I hope they really have a lot of success.'' Johnson had workouts with Cleveland and New England last week before signing with the Bears. He got the call while working out at home in Colorado.

they dont hate seeing the other teams punter though as long as Hester is on the field

I was impressed with Johnsons punting sunday. I didn't know Maynard was hurt? He was punting sunday too.

What? Maynard never saw the field. This new guy got hurt too, and Gould punted. Not Maynard.

Typo IP, meant to put Gould instead. Anyway is Maynard hurt?

Ah ok. I was listening to the game on the radio sunday(too much yard work to watch it on TV  )and they never said why Maynard was out??
