NFL changes start time of another Bears game
By Larry Mayer
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – For the second time in as many days, the NFL moved the starting time of a Bears game in accordance with the league’s flexible scheduling plan.
The Bears-Broncos game on Sunday, Nov. 25 at Soldier Field has been changed from noon to 3:15 p.m. CST on CBS. On Monday, the NFL switched the Bears-Seahawks game on Sunday, Nov. 18 in Seattle from 7:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. CST.
As the schedule stands now, the Bears will play their next four games at 3:15 p.m.—beginning Sunday in Oakland and ending on Sunday, Dec. 2 against the New York Giants at Soldier Field. Chicago will then make back-to-back prime-time appearances at Washington on Thursday, Dec. 6 and at Minnesota on Monday, Dec. 17.
The Bears will then close the season with noon home games versus the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Dec. 23 and the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Dec. 30, though those two contests could be changed in accordance with the league’s flexible scheduling plan.
The NFL utilizes flexible scheduling on Sundays in Weeks 11-17 to ensure quality prime-time match-ups.
For each of the flexible scheduling weeks with the exception of Week 17, the NFL will announce the start times of Sunday games no later than 12 days prior to that weekend. To ensure a Sunday night game and doubleheader games with playoff implications in Week 17, the flexible scheduling decision for that Sunday may be made on six days notice.
