Lovie makes it official

Lovie Smith made it official Wednesday after practice, naming Rex Grossman his starter for Sunday's game at Seattle.

``[i] liked the way he finished the game last week,'' Smith said. ``[i] liked the way he gave us a boost.''

Grossman will start over Brian Griese, who suffered a left shoulder sprain against the Raiders. Smith said the biggest factor in the change was putting in the quarterback that gave the team the best chance to win Sunday's game.

``It's another great opportunity to come out there, get a chance to play with these guys,'' Grossman said. ``Hopefully get things rolling.''

Smith said he would evaluate the position on a week-to-week basis. Grossman appears to be more relaxed for this second chance.

``It's not really that much pressure for me,'' Grossman said. ``I didn't even know I was going to play again.''

It's a sad day for the Bears when we/Lovie(I hope)are forced to start Wrex.

Sorry, but I think the sad day was when the Lions gang raped the Bears in the first game.

Also practicing was cornerback Nathan Vasher, who continues to recover from partially torn groin muscle. Every Bear on the active roster was on the field in pads and helmets for the first part of practice.

I've said this many times last season, I still hope Lovie has the sense to put Brian back in next week. But it sounds like he's still in love with Wrex.
