I'm saying , everyone should stick to the contract. Owners, employers, employees, etc,. When you're in the final of a contract, that's when you negotiate (not re-negotiate) for a new one.
Seems to be fine with people if someone refuses to do what they are obligated to do, but if a team were to lockout a player from facilities, well then, all holy **** would break out.
Agents holding press conferences, player hires a hyperactive lawyer, etc.
You don't like the coin where you are? Get a new job. Can't get a new job because of a nasty little thing (like a legal contract) is in your way? Awww...that's a shame. Retire. It's obvious that it's too much of a burden for you. Go enjoy your life.
Just leave. Don't whine, don't *****, don't call attention to your inner Diva. Just go.
I just hope the Bears man-up, and file the turd as being in breech of contract (if and when he is).
The facts are this; he's been injured; he has an arthritic back (that's for life people); his play has fallen off; his best years are not ahead of him, and he probably knows his body won't allow him to finish this contract so he's trying to squeeze out more money before his body completely falls apart. At the same time he just empowers more players (on this team, or others) to keep pulling this stuff.
You reward loyalty, not someone who holds you up. He's been paid, and paid damn well. Good luck finding another career that pays you that well.
Start trying out some new blood at the position. If and when he does come back, I hope Forte does a Bo Jackson on his Brian Bosworth ego.
