Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports Bears general manager Jerry Angelo wants to explore every option in terms of upgrading the team. But don’t expect the Bears to make a serious run at free-agent receiver Matt Jones.
When asked about Jones during a community visit in Waukegan Wednesday afternoon, Angelo seemed to have reservations about adding the former Jacksonville Jaguar.
“He was a first-round draft pick and he is a very talented player,” Angelo said, “but it’s case by case. We’re not quick to move on any player.”
No doubt the Bears are concerned about Jones’ checkered past, one that included an arrest for cocaine possession last July. Jones, 26, served a three-game league suspension after losing an appeal. After violating terms of a court-mandated drug program by consuming alcohol, he was arrested again and faced further disciplinary action for the 2009 season. But the league decided not to impose another suspension, although Jones was fined $50,000.
They do not. But when you talk about a Championship back when there were only a handful of teams and a team could fold during the season there is a lot of difference between then an now. Back then the NFL was not as stable as the AFL or even the AFL2 is right now. It is like a division III school in college moving up into Division I and say we have won X number of championships they just do not equal.
I would highly recommend brushing up on the "pre SB era" of football. Those guys were twice the men that we have now a days playing the game. None of this holdout crap for millions more $$$ ect. They played rough and tough both sides of the ball for the true love of the game. Played hurt all the time not like the panseys we have today.
I think you have it backwards bud!!

I am not saying that the players back then were not tough. What I was saying was the level of play was not the same. Today if someone has the skills to play football at a high level 99.99% of them will be in the NFL. That is not the case in the early days. There were more leagues out there besides the NFL, and a lot of the best college players would not play in the Pros because it was not looked at highly.
