Default attn PPR Leagues - Rudi working hard on pass catching

The Enquirer - Bengals notebook

Lewis credited tailback Rudi Johnson for working hard to improve his pass-receiving skills, and quarterback Carson Palmer noted how Johnson is catching the ball with his hands and not letting it get into his body.

it's about time. this will hopefully make him a little less one-dimensional.

well, they were kind of forced into it with their receiving back became unavailable.

eh, rudi has been working all off-season on his hands...before we drafted irons.
plus, we still have kenny watson, a former WR, so it's not like we were looking to rudi to become our 3rd down/recieving back. he is just trying to suck a little less.

Kenny watson is nothing special and was about to lose his job to a rookie, he is forced back into the role he had last year with a whopping 23 catches, the guy that truly will be missed is Perry who is the best receiving back you have, too bad he is on the PUP list. Irons is out for the year. Yeah, I would say that Rudi wouldn't have had to worry about catching the ball had both of those injuries not happened. Also, if Perry is ready to play by week six, then Rudi will see his chances of catching the ball diminish mightily.

i don't get it.
are you trying to argue about something?
rudi worked on his hands so when he is in the game, defenses can not only worry about him as a running threat. he is making himself a more versatile back.
like i said, he has been doing this long before kenny irons was in the mix.
plus, kenny watson is one of the better recieving RB's in the league.
please watch bengals football before talking about bengals football.

plus, how did you get the job of 'super-moderator'? is the super-duper moderator your uncle or something?

yeah 23 receptions makes him one of the better receiving backs in the league, how many did he have when Perry was in there. I am just in a discussion here, you shouldn't take things so personally. This is just a forum, I am allowed an opinion as you are. No need to get defensive with the super duper stuff, LOL

It is great that he is working on his catching, Im just wondering why it is taken him this many years to do it. Why? because he has to this year, They lost Perry before they lost Irons and honestly Watson is average at best.

I dont remember reading anything prior to this about him working on his recieving. The last Bengals game I watched was this pre-season and the announcers (Bangels announcers) even said he has thinned up and been working on his pass catching this year. They even went as far as to quote Carson Palmer saying Palmer joked with Rudi saying he finally used some of that signing bonus money on some hands.
