From what I heard last night on NFL Network or Sportscenter...one of those 2, they said that Coach Lewis wanted him to be in there playing now, but Palmer isn't ok with it mentally. So he's a bit gun-shy, regardless of if he's healed up or not. It's possible he might never be back to his old self, where you're more or less fearless. To be a great QB you gotta have the balls to stand in the pocket and take a hit..if he's always worried about getting hurt again, he'll never be nearly as good as he used to be. Being a Steeler fan, I have mixed feelings on it. I hate the Bengals so it's good if they suck, but it's also more interesting when your division rivals aren't like another bye-week 4 times a year, which is what the Bengals and Browns have been for so long.

being scared of the hit is getting exagerated, They get hit all the time and now since they got injured you suppose they're scared of it
You dont even think about it in the game, adrenaline takes over

Watch someone who's had a significant injury. Sometimes after they come back they don't have the balls to stand in the pocket and take the hit. Instead of staying there and completing the pass and taking the hit, they'll change their footing to protect their knees, run too soon, rush the throw, etc. I'm not saying he'll be like that, but it DOES happen to some guys. I'm just going by what I heard the commentator on ESPN or NFL Network say about him not being mentally ready to play yet, though physically he's supposed to be coming along fine. Coach wants him in, he's scared, to put it bluntly.

i know, i've heard about it a million times, but honestly have never seen injured QB's sucumb to it
Brad Johnson & Drew Bledsoe cant avoid Fast Moving Mollasses but they never had torn ACL's, it's being exagerated is all i'm saying

I can't recall specifics, but I have seen it. It doesn't necessarily ruin them, but they might not be as good as they once were. The best example I can think of is Jay Cutler. I remember seeing clips of him in college where he didn't set his feet right to throw a ball cause his team was so crappy that he never had time to throw and rushed it and didn't step into the throw as he was supposed to.

The difference between the "exaggerated" being hit comments for Big Ben and carson is that big ben is healed up from his brusies and his cosmetic surgery, while carson shredded his knee apart. Sure Carson might be able to take a hit, but QBs have guys fall at their legs and take late hits ALL THE TIME. Its one thing to take a hit, but its another to take one without seeing whats happening and finishing the play which he says he cant do.
Ive torn my ACL playing football and it wasnt near as bad as his and i was out for 10 months. No Way is he ready to take a low hit and i would be Shocked if he played in the first 4 games, he'll be back after the by week. Its not worth the risk and Lewis would be dumb to put such a good player in before he has to.

that was a Good thing IMO
Cutler Needed to rush it, His Line was terrible, the world knows that
Setting your feet isnt a priority when you know you constantly have rushers on you
him trying to make a play is better than him just taking his time looking for the best option, because meanwhile he would have been sacked 30 times a game
