Levi voices frustration with role
Despite extension, lineman wonders if he'll be traded
The Enquirer - Levi voices frustration with role
Levi Jones, 13 months after signing a six-year contract extension worth more than $40 million with the Bengals, wondered late Friday night about his future with the team.
Following the Bengals' 14-6 victory against Indianapolis in the preseason finale, Jones said he is not being prepared to play during practice and noted that he was on the field with third-string players well into the second half.
"I have been ready for a few weeks now ... I've been ready to play for two weeks but haven't got a lot of snaps in practice," Jones said.
"I get minimal snaps in practice. I've been thrown into games without much preparation. I'm spelling people. I'm a Virgo. I like to be prepared for all situations."
Since he has returned to practice, Jones has worked behind second-year lineman Andrew Whitworth at left tackle. Whitworth started 10 games at left tackle last season as a rookie when Jones was out with a knee injury. Jones hurt the knee in the Tampa Bay game in October.

Levi can shut the **** up and do as he is told, instead of moaning to the media, we payed him mega bucks last year, he will play when the coaches say so.

He is a whiny boy, maybe that's why Porter punked him. Wonder if their will still be some animosity when Cincy finishes the regular season @ Miami?

Probably get in another fist fight. Except Porter will lose because Levi will fall on his head crushing his helmet and skull.

okay, playing is one thing... if he said "I havent been getting in games" you can justify that by saying its pre-season but him saying that he hasnt been getting snaps in practice is a cause for concern and he has all the right to speak out
you can tell him to shut up but hes the anchor of your O-Line at the end of the day.... if hes is getting traded then y'all better get a damn good deal... cant see a trade happening though

levi is a *****. good ball player, but if you have issues with your role on the team, handle it behind closed doors, not via the media.
plus, if he WAS traded, we wouldn't be hurtin. andrew whitworth needs maybe 6 starts at LT to develop into a better LT than levi jones. seriously.
maybe levi's onto something with the trade talk...i highly doubt it, but i wouldnt be too surprised.

Wow, Whitworth has never played in an NFL game and he will be better than your anchor, that is a bit optimistic, but also unrealistic.

pay attention man. whitworth played most of our games last year as a rookie and did a great job at 2 or 3 different positions.
watch some games before you start talkin about who hasn't played a game and whose cornerbacks (see other thread) are 'problematic'.
whitworth, if you watch him play- which you evidently have not, is a stud in the making. that, combined with levi being a bit overrated, equate to whitworth being every bit a proper replacement for levi.
