bell man is on a distinguished road
Default bengals claimed david jones off waivers

congrats. mark my words, he will develop into a solid corner. he is already very polished and has good ball skills. too bad the saints cut him instead of freddy t.

problem? not really. o'neal is still decent. joseph will be a pure shutdown by the end of the season. leon hall is definite solid CB2, but will have skills of a CB1. ratliff is very solid for a CB4.

the only thing problematic, if anything, about our CB scenario is injuries..and those have only been affecting our bench depth.

there were sure a lot of ifs in there, especially on a team that gave up the most yards in the league passing per game last year and only a handful of teams gave up more passing td's and allowed opposing QB's to complete 63% of their passes. Yeah, Id say it was a problem. I'll believe the will-be's when they become actual facts.

poor safety play and a piss poor pass rushing has much to do with our pass defense rankings, though.
but this year, we still have dealtha, joseph is a year better. we drafted hall. ratliff has been very solid since mini-camp...
there are no 'problems' this year that would indicate that signing david jones is anything more than adding young, promising depth. david jones was not signed to fix any problems.

no he wasn't signed to fix problems, I agree, but they were terrible last year no matter how you slice it and until I see Joseph shut people down, then I will say he isn't and hasn't lived up to billing. I am not saying they can't right the ship, but you can in no way guarantee they will be good based on all those if's.

uh, they were fine last year.
i watched every game last year...just trust me instead of relying on your s.i. almanac.

plus, when did this turn into the "bengals db's suck" thread? you said david jones was signed to fix our problematic defense.
do explain how a rookie out of Wingate was signed to do that.

I didn't say he was signed to solve the problems, I just said that was an area that was a problem, so it made sense to sign another DB. Don't make it more than it was. and if your DB's are fine you do not lead the league in pass yards given up, just doesn't happen
