Default More of the same from Cincinnati...

Every season you think “Will this be the season?” but for the Bengals it always seems to be a rollercoaster ride, and looks like this season is not going to be any different. How you can go from winning against the Ravens, one of the toughest defenses in the NFL and a damn good offense, and then go to Cleveland and play like that is embarrassing for any Cincinnati football fan. Year after year you watch and it becomes more and more apparent that if the offense isn’t playing well then the game is shot, we cannot rely on the defense. Maybe it’s time they give the boot to defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan. Cincinnati fans are going to give up hope on this team like they did when they were the 2-14 Bengals years ago. Don’t get me wrong, 8-8 is a hell of a lot better than 2-14, but after so many 8-8 seasons and poor performances against teams that they should beat you cannot go into any game with confidence because always lingering in your mind is “How’s the defense going to play?” Anyway that’s just my take on this, we’ll see in the next few weeks how they are going to play, but after the first two games I’m sure it will be more of the same. I hope this season Marvin Lewis will wake up and realize that it’s not that the defense is lacking talent, it’s that the defense is lacking organization and consistency, and instead of pushing for progress from the same coordinator, replace him.

No no no, I could understand if it was a team that was established, but a team as shaky as the Browns, a team that coming into this game didn't even know who their quarterback was going to be, and us coming off of a HUGE Monday night win, hands down the Bengals should have dominated.

Defensive captain John Thornton said the Browns' 554-yard effort wasn't a coaching issue and that after reviewing the tape defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan told them he would have changed only one call.
Are you serious? I realize its only the 2nd week, but this is boiling over from the past few seasons. Cincinnati fans want consistency, not this crap of one week we bring tons of pressure and make a seasoned QB scramble and then the next have a rookie QB make us look like total fools.

Ive always been in full support for Marvin especialy as he has done soo much to get this team to a point that we are no longer the laughing stock on the NFL.

But at the same time im thinking if i was in charge i would be giving Lewis his marching orders this season i think. Some key decisions which i can only to my knowledge make him accountable for are really starting to mount up.

(a) 1st round pick Chris Perry, Okay injuries have hampered him but you dont draft a guy in round one when you have Rudi Johnson, if you want a guy to spell him with then thats what the later rounds are for.

(B) The dodgy character guys we have drafted and the list is mounting. Its okay to draft a suspect guy and think you can perhaps mend his ways, one or two project guys are alright, but one draft we practicaly drafted an entire draft class of suspect characters (Thurman / Rucker / AJ Nicholson and more)

(C) Drafting Kenny Irons in round 2 this year, i would rather we reached a little for a guy that could be more of an impact player on defence than a 3rd down RB on offence.

(D) Chuck Breshnahan period ! Im assuming it was Marvins choice and the simple fact of the matter is Chuck isnt good enough. I remeber some Raider fans telling me we would regret it and how glad they where he had gone, how we would see really crap 3rd down packages and get beat all the time, and guess what .... thats whats happening and was never more so evident that last week against the Browns.

I could go on but im getting wound up enough. Either Marvin has to stand up and kick Chucks *** out of the door now, and either take control of the playcalling himself or bring in someone else. Otherwise i can see a lot of Bengal fans turning on him come the end of the season. This defence is no better now than it was 4 years ago and the offence is mostly made up of guys that where here when Marvin came.

I would say from here that it hangs on Lewis, he came out in the press conference and did the same old song 'n dance "Missed tackles" etc...after this season if he doesn't get rid of Chuck, it's on his head and it should be him that goes. The fans of Cincinnati are proud and grateful for what he did to get this organization to where it is, but we want to take it to the next level, or at the very least to a consistent level.
