First they won on takeaways. Then they lost on giveaways.
For the Bengals to outwit the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday's 4:05 p.m. game at Qwest Field, it's going to take a heaping dose of the former and better control of the latter.
Few would dispute that the Bengals' four fumble recoveries and two interceptions set up their season-opening win over Baltimore - just as two Bengals-produced interceptions and a fumble benefited the Browns in last Sunday's loss to Cleveland.
So in the Seattle game, which pits two NFL top-12 offenses and bottom-nine defenses, the Bengals' ability to come up with takeaways will be crucial.
"If there are tipped balls, we have to go up there and get those balls. We didn't win that battle last week. We lost the game," defensive lineman Bryan Robinson said. "Not saying that was the difference, but we know we have a better chance of winning when we do have plus-side turnovers."
That's especially the truth under coach Marvin Lewis.
