The media has an agenda, to build hype. If everyone picks Bama (even if they know they will win) the interest won't be too great in the game. That's the same reason why preseason mags are forced to pick different #1 teams. It's in their best interest to generate buzz in the fan bases and die yards of the sport. Lets say Bama beats UGA and ND both 35-3. If everyone is talking and writing about the impending blowouts, tv viewership is down and interest is in a lull. It's a circle jerk, they hype the game, and we (as fans) pretend its going to be an interesting game.

The second and third ranked teams are playing the SEC CG to see who plays for a NC. I think that builds enough hype on its own. Even "experts" from other networks like Georgia. The way Georgia is playing right now, they stand a very good chance at beating Bama.

Bama wasn't supposed to lose this year. Kansas State and Oregon weren't either. Notre Dame was supposed to lose a few games. I like Notre Dame's chances, more against Alabama than Georgia as well.

The second and third ranked teams doesn't mean the second and third best teams in the country. Alabama isn't going to go 14-0 every year. Maybe they would if they were in any other conference. That is life in the SEC. A&M beat them fair and square. Coming off an emotional and hard fought LSU game or coming off a bye week would give you two complete different teams. But that's the game when you have six top ten teams in a conference. The negative is that an undefeated team from a lesser conference would beat out a one loss SEC but the positive is that as a one loss you will be head and shoulders above all other one loss teams. Oregon, Ohio St, Kansas St would be in over Alabama had things played out a little different. I think all 10 conferences are looking forward to the four teamer in 25 months from now.
