Compare the Two?...

Basically, I consider NIU (or Kent State had they been selected) to be more like Hawaii than TCU, Boise, and Utah of past teams. Any elitist perspective I have would be simply that I don't feel the MAC conference is at the same level as the MWC had been or even the WAC and so a top record in that conference doesn't carry the same cache.

Right now, if NIU was to play LTU?... Too much BcS in the Orange!... That is grossly negligent on part of the selection committee/BcS...
I know it is what it is, but that tops the cake for me!...

Were you a Boise/TCU supporter five years ago? Because the masses didn't want the little guy to be left out they lowered the line from top 6 to top 16. I don't want to hear any complaining, this is a side effect of what 99% of you wanted.

No Kinnick, but I was for the likes of BSU and TCU when they were 11-1 or 12-0 and winning against a good and legitimate ranked opponent! We all know that NIU is vastly out talented by FSU in the Orange... not even in the same class as FSU...

Boise was also out talented by Oklahoma and TCU was out talented by Wisconsin. It seems unfair to be pro-Boise/TCU but anti NIU. You either want the small schools to have a chance, or you dont. I personally am looking forward to the four teamer because we dont have to worry non-BCS anymore. Big teams with big schedules are justly rewarded.

I don't see what the problem is, they are 11-1, they should be ranked higher tbh but whatever they only need to be in the top 16 to make the BCS

The main difference between TCU/Boise and NIU, is that TCU and Boise actually proved themselves. They were both GOOD teams. Don't get me wrong NIU is a good team but TCU and Boise were better. And they proved it too.
NIU losing to Iowa really hurts their resume and is probably one of the main factors of this controversy. If they had been blowing away the teams on their schedule I would have said fine, give them a chance. But the fact that they lost to a 4-8 Iowa team?
Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Please BCS next time give the spot to a more DESERVING team such as LSU, UGA, OU or even A&M and S.Car!

And how did TCU and Boise really prove themselves? By winning BCS bowl games. So I got no problem with giving them a shot at it. If they lose then they lose, probably won't be back again for a while but if they win, then they proved they deserved it

I am kinda with AN on this. Back then, BSU and TCU were beating good ranked big boys even before getting to the bowl scene... NIU? Out of nowhere in one season losing to a 4-8 Iowa?...
Man, that is way harder to accept when TCU and BSU proved themselves in a much more profound way! As far as being out talented, that can't be in 60 minutes of ball and you beat one or more of the big guys! BSU obviously had as good talent as OU that year or they wouldn't have won! It sure was clear to me when I watched that game and everyone else in the country saw it and recognized that!...
Watch NIU get whipped thoroughly!... I can tell you that I wasn't one of the Sooner faithful saying, BSU was going to get killed playing the Sooners that year! Did I say that we would probably win?... Sure but not the Broncos getting ripped by us! They had won a lot already, over several good teams! NIU?... Uh... No!...
I am over this cause the BCS obviously, still has problems and I don't think that CFB can go wrong with a playoff system...

You guys realize that a nonBCS will never finish top four for the playoffs. Even undefeated, beating everyone by 17+ and two notable opponents won't do it. Strength of schedule will be heavily weighted.

I thought that SOS had a little more validity than was revealed during the selection. Guess they want to get a couple of smaller schools some good bowl monies, before the top 4 eliminate most if not all hope for them...
I had recognized that a playoff system would practically eliminate them from any chance... That is why if they do get to 10-2, 11-1 or 12-0 again, probably as like right now... just a decent bowl but no playoff cigar!...
