Maybe not destroy, but I'd bet at least a 2-3 score win for Oregon. A&M would give Oregon more problems than Bama would.

No kidding, but a 4 team playoff system is stupid IMO.

I think 8 teams would be perfect....there might be some whining from the 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 teams but the top 5 will be in and should. That way we would get at least the best top 5 teams and possibly a sleeper

The more the better in an ideal world, which is not our world. It presents a problem to go with more than 4. In a 16 game playoff teams would be playing 4 more games/weeks, while the non-quailfier's season is long over and forgotten. A four team playoff or a plus one only adds one more qame for the championship teams, which is very feasible.
And the playoff teams are playing well into that next semester. Bowls have always been over before School started again or no more than the first week. The NCAA doesn't wamt to extend football season to a new semester.
What do you (anyone) suggest we do with the 108+ other schools that don't make the playoff? Their seasons could be over a full month and half earlier than the elite teams. They just want to play and we want to watch more games.

The other schools that do not make the playoffs could either:
-go into a loser's bracket if qualified
-have more bowl games if qualified

It's not productive to pretend that the NCAA cares about much besides keeping the money coming in. Any other reasons are just the excuses they use to show how much they "care" about student athletes.
If sacrificing the Independence and Potato Bowl means we'll get a legitimate champion every year, any fan of the sport should be on board for that. At any rate, they can still fill up the week and the holidays with all of those meaningless bowls. This isn't Pee Wee, and just because you finish 6-6 doesn't mean you should get a trophy.

I agree... You need at least one rep from every conference and then a four strong teams elected to come into the tournament to round out the other spots.
In my opinion, they should mimic the Final Four format exactly... Have a full out nation wide playoffs...
