Capital One... Georgia v. Nebraska
Sorry Yall, been busy... went looking for my last week of picks, and couldn't find them, guess maybe I never hit post/send, (ill get to that eventually).
NOT looking forward to this game, I have a bad feeling today for Nebraska, and the future of this football team.
I shouldn't... but with the way the Coaching cookie crumbles these days another colossal loss the likes of the B10 Championship or the trips out to Columbus or LA, and Bo Pelini will enter the 2013 season sitting on one of the hottest seats in the land.
A "defensive" coach can't lose like this, not on national TV, and really... never.
Nebraska has to find a way to bounce back, and either get a straight up W, or find a way to play so hard in a loss that they earn national respect... or at least dont lose any more than they have already.
I just don't see either of those two things happening.
Nebraska will come out over excited and hyper, they'll over pursue on D, they'll bite on play fakes to Gurley/Marshall and get burned deep at least twice... on Offense Martinez will try to over compensate... looking for the big play/deep route far too often and for far too long and take too many drive killing 10 yard losses/sacks. Fumbles... fumbles... fumbles.
Jarvis Jones? 10+ tackles... probably a sack or two... and I wouldn't be surprised if he finds a way to pick up a fumble and score.
Again... I don't have a good feeling.
Nebraska's only hope is that UGA comes out unfocused/unmotivated... Martinez lets the game come to him and breaks off some huge runs... Bo's tinkering with the D slows UGAs run game, and the nations leading Pass D stymies Murray on 3rd down.
Thats a tall order of wishful thinking if you ask me...
UGA 45 - Nebraska 6

Unfortunately Husker I would have to agree with you on the outcome. I would love for atleast a close game but I don't see it happening. This goes along with the USC vs Michigan game. I just don't see the B10 teams having much of a chance

Well Husker, UGA just scored but there is a lot of time left... Really not bad defense entirely at all, by NU... Still a bunch of ball to be played... Right now, it hard for me to acknowledge that this Bulldog team is the same one that played Bama in the SECCG!... Or is it that NU is wanting to really play?... Don't ever give up hope, look at what happen to LSU last night when everyone wrote off Clemson...

So far, not bad for NU and Martinez and the way their season has transpired... #7 UGA?... Commentators touched on a point that I had meant to tell SMT earlier in the season why the Bulldogs wouldn't probably finish well. So, they did surprise me with playing Bama for SECCG... Thing is in this game, NU's type of option has Georgia's DL and their lack of depth sometimes, on the ropes! Especially, when Martinez is getting good passes off to receivers and backfield!... Not bad at all!...

I'm pretty surprised that this game is even. The way Nebraska got crushed by Wisconsin I figured Georgia would have no problem today.

He had missed three open receivers when I posted that, costing his team a touchdown and two first downs. He didn't have it together at the time. Not bad so far though.

Well Vest, UGA finally, pulled away in the middle of the 4th quarter... I think that in time Bo will get some depth on the DL and keep it in their face on a more intense manner!... Backers and the Safties have got to try to stay on ball side better on those slant routes and be ready when they hitch-n-go!... Coverage was darn good up til that time!... just seemed the stamina was lost in the last 10-12 minutes... Bulldogs get it done by 14... I really liked that game...
Happy New Year!...
