Saban has a chance to become that Coach, but he isn't there yet. And one big scandal would take that away from him, which would not surprise me if one popped up. I've been around college football for years and I can tell you for a fact that there isn't a single clean program out there. It just takes the right reporter with just the right amount of information to broadcast it

...of course, A&M beat him and I suspect the on-field innovations will be his undoing. It sure would have been nice to see 'bama and Oregon go at it.
I get that... But another knock could also be that he took over a team that's never really been terrible in recent years. He took a good team and made it better. If you look at a guy like Jimmy Johnson, for example, that came in and turned two programs into winners, with the "U" being one of the biggest turn around every in college football... Saban doesn't have that kind of juice either.

So sick of hearing this. Stanford strongest team in the PAC pushed them all over. AM defense played a hell of a game if it wasnt for them Bama would have won. Alabama offense played on of the sloppiest games I have seen since Saban tooke over. Oregon offense has chocked Vs SEC what makes you think it would be diff. after watching them play stanford the closest defense to an sec team in the PAC. Saban is the best coach ever right now period. Who is better tell me ??? Im from PA i love Joe Pa but He is no where close to saban

Stanford pushed Oregon around? Oregon had over 400 yards of offense, but couldn't get into the end zone. They were beaten, but not pushed around. Stanford also plays Oregon every year and they have a better idea of what to expect from that offense. Oregon put up good numbers on those SEC defenses, but came up short. Auburn gave them 450 yards and needed a shady call to beat them. Last year's LSU defense was more able to stop Oregon's offense than this year's Alabama defense. Nick Saban was crying earlier in the season about the tempo of those types of offenses. That's what I was referring to. He doesn't like the tempo Oregon runs and complained about it earlier this year. Oregon would give Alabama more trouble than you think, and it would have been a great game. If you don't agree, you're free to be wrong.

Joe Paterno, Tom Osborne and Bear Bryant all need mentioned.

Here when Bama (or the SEC) wins its always , its quite funny actually. But when you call them out on it, you are the one in their feeble minds that have "no class." Its very amusing watching the mighty SEC beat the rest of the nation brains in, and then reading all the excuses that follow.

Not yet, but if he keeps on winning at this clip, then it would be hard to argue against him. Remember, if Oregon didn't spit the bit this year against Stanford, Bama wouldn't have had a chance.

This is Oregon's legacy... They drop a game that drops their season. Then people say "if they could have...".

Everyone is always having such high expectations... But then nadda.

which is more a flaw of the system than the actual team.

when SEC teams drops a game, they believe (and receive) a 2nd shot. when any other conference's teams drop a game, title hopes are over.

For the most part, I agree.....timing also has something to do with it but you're right, voters have a James Hardon for SEC teams.

That's what happen when teams from other conferences lose the title game against the SEC, a lot of time in blowouts. Not a fault of the system, just the SEC championships teams are better.
