Here's what I see happening with "Johnny Football"

Let me first start by saying, he is the most versatile player we've seen in a long time, especially as a freshman QB... He is on point with scanning the field for receivers, and he does so very quickly. When he is flushed out of the pocket, he has plenty of speed to get flushed out and his ability to scan not only close, but down field for a receiver is remarkable. Not to mention his running speed - he's maneuverable and quick on his feet, even when the play doesn't call for him to run it..... Now, here's the thing... He runs an awful lot. Very successfully I will add, but he still runs a lot and does not slide very often.. Now don't get me wrong, I watched Cotton Bowl and have never been more entertained by his agility and the fact that I love seeing QB's run. He darted in and out of OU's defense so quick that I was laughing out loud. BUT.. back to the point. He doesn't take slides, and runs very, very often. If I were Kevin Sumlin, I would start working with him in regards to playing safer or smarter. Granted, the kid won the Heisman, so I am nobody to say that he isn't doing things right. But thinking about his future, he's a young kid, and I don't think there has been much opportunity for him to be hit hard yet a few times, with a career-ending injury like we might be seeing now with RG3... Our greatest QB's in the NFL right now are QB's that can play in the pocket comfortably, and can scan the field in milliseconds then lead targeted receivers with precision accuracy. See, Manzell is definitely doing things insanely well, and is shocking the heck out of a lot of football fans with his capability, but thinking of the future, and his current style of playing... hmmm......... thoughts?

And yeah that's the risk any QB takes when they scramble like that. RG3 actually didn't get hit at all he just went down in the pocket on his own trying to recover a fumble, but he's going to recover they say

Keep in mind that Johnny did in fact get hurt this year, it was very scary for all A&M fans. But Johnny is a competitor (if you haven't noticed) and I wouldn't be surprised if an injury every slowed him down.

With that said, I do agree with the fact that Sumlin might need to work on improving his passing game, as we all saw in the 1st half of the Cotton Bowl, he is not very accurate deep.

For next year I would like to see him having the ability to stay in the pocket but in absolute emergencies, to scramble out of the pocket and go wild.

Johnny Football reminds me of Michael Vick in college the way he is able to avoid the big hit even when tackled. He is most effective out of the pocket and scrambling making plays, so to discourage that would be a detriment to him and A&M overall success. He just have to focus a little more on sliding down or getting out of bounds when possible to avoid the big hit.

TAMU has a great recruiting class, but do they really have room for all 34 commits? Or are they going to start doing what other SEC schools do, including Bama, and offer to more than what they got room for then select who they want and tell the others they don't have room?
