1. Its very hard to win in the NFL without a good qb, so they will have to find one.
2. The Eagles are undersized on both the offensive and defensive lines. So, if they did managed to find a quality qb, they would still have to protect him and stop people from scoring.
3. Kelly's teams have not been able to stop others from scoring consistently.
4. Most teams in the NFL now have offenses that are high tempo and variations on the spread, so his offense wouldn't be unique or something that defenses are unprepared for.

Fair enough...but, I was thinking of pre-sactions.
If Kelly is successful, it won't come from the style of offense or defense, but his management style.

Yeah, that's what I meant when I said if he can move on from college. As long as he can remember that what works in college doesn't always work in the NFL, he has a chance.

Bottom line, Kelly "Ducked Out!'... Bet his greatest challenge is ahead of him... Or he ends up being ahead of himself... The % NFL game, will demand a little more discipline and not so fast, to jumping the gun on a play... NFL defenses adjust very quickly!... I'd say good luck but nah!...

Im on the fringe here. I want him to succeed because I'm a fan of the team but like most everyone I have my doubts about his D. His coaching staff does not bring in any big name coaches and that includes Billy Davis who comes over to coach the D. Yes , PC and JH did jump from the pac 12 and have success in the NFL, but remember that PC was a complete failure in New England prior to going to USC.

The offense will take care of itself... He'll bring in a read option style offense, someone said that was going to work great in the NFL, and all's he'll have to do is look at his defense. And really, the talent is there, but it lacked guidance and a decent approach. You can't blitz all day long. This has been the Eagles problem for the past decade.

In fairness the Eagles have not blitzed since the late Jim Johnson passed away as D coordinator. Juan Castillo took more to his front four generating pressure and occupy his linebackers in pass and run support. About the D having talent lets review the roster. Nobody is playing safety, the corners were awful and linebackers... Quickly name me a player...time up. The move to 3-4 leaves a hole in personnel, since no space eating NT is on the roster. The D is worse than you thought and major upgrades are needed.

They still like to bring the heat... It's who they are. That being said, the D has tons of talent that under preformed. Safety has been an issue with the Eagles since Dawk left and they never fixed that. I think that's the reason why both DRC and Nnamdi looked terrible. Who knows if either of them is still going to be there. At LB, there are some young guys. As for the LBs, the biggest issue was that they drafted 3-4 linebackers for a 4-3 system. In reality, when the Eagles made their "Super" team, they just went out and took the best guys on paper they could find, regardless of how they fit the system. But they have players that are suited for the 3-4 so I think that the move will be less of a shock then people expect.
LB and CB are two positions which have the talent but aren't used properly. Casey Matthews is a 3-4 LB, as was Philip Hunt before they moved him to end. If they pick up a player like Ogletree in the 2nd, that's now one of the best 3-4 LBS corps in their conference.
As for blitzing, they tried, but failed to do anything with the blitz again this year. They still try, but couldn't do anything when it came time. They should have gone to a straight out Cover 2 look, but the "2" in cover 2 was terrible, again. They tried to cover this fact by trying to bring the "heat", but this was exposed by teams taking advantage of the under routes because of the CBs having to play father off to prevent the deep ball.
Honestly, I'd almost put safety over NT at this time as the position of need on the defense.

Bottom line is that the 3 down have to be dynamic pressure masters!... That is the hitch for the whatever called coverage in this scheme... No pressure, coverage begins to fade, get stretched and somebody gets open finally!... Under routes are a real *** buster!... It does allow at times, for 4-5 step drop plays to add some heat from a blitz... Have to be careful on what opponents give ya and like to do...
He has his work cut out for sure!...
