Oklahoma: Adrian Peterson: Could Lose College Eligibility

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Monday, November 8, 2004
Update: Peterson's eligibilty is in jeopardy because of a Web site that may be earning profits off Peterson's image, the Oklahoma football team reported Thursday.

Recommendation: A fan site, adrian-peterson.com, now has a disclosure on the top of the site. Before, there was nothing that showed that the site was not connected to Peterson personally. Under NCAA rules, a student-athlete cannot use his image to promote commercial products. If the image is being used without the athlete's knowledge, the athlete and school still are required to take steps to to stop the activity. Peterson has not been declared ineligible yet, but the NCAA may have grounds against him.

I'd think they'd have better things to do, then make a player ineligible because some fan has an admiration of Adrian Peterson.

I'm not sure where you get your deduction of them as a joke from.

They created the BCS, refused to reinstate Jeremy Bloom & Mike Willi--

Wait you're right, they're a joke

The NCAA is susposed to protect the sudent athlete, but it seems like they usually just end up screwing over the student.

Absolutely sad. I know that a number of UGA players had websites that they created in one of their classes that promoted their team, and the NCAA actually got pissy over that as well. No $$ involved at all, but they still got their roos in a wad.

These guys are the ****ing Gestapo.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

I would LOVE to see the NCAA try and take away his eligibility. If indeed it is determined that he had nothing to do with the site, which I assume he didn't, the NCAA will get sued for multi-millions.

How many more promising players can the NCAA **** over this year? Hmmmmmm....
