I think so....
OFFICIALLY OUT OF THE RUNNING
1. Braylon Edwards - still the nation's best WR, but a couple of big drops officially killed him.

TOP THREE
1. Adrian Peterson - nation's toughest runner, went for 200+ against the mighty Baylor D.
2. Matt Leinart - just keeps moving the offense. Most consistent player out there.
3. Jason Campbell - doesn't have the stats, but leading Auburn to an undefeated regular season against the SEC gives him credibility. If they beat UT in the SECCG, he'll have even more credibility.

ALSO-RANS
1. Reggie Bush - Peter Warrick remade...should get higher consideration, but shares touches with LenDale White, killing his only legit shot. Still the most dangerous player on the field, any time.
2. Alex Smith - leads his team to an undefeated record, and is a dual threat running and throwing...but the undefeated came against Mountain West Conference opposition.
3. Aaron Rodgers - it seems unfair, but I get the feeling that his Heisman chances went down the tank when Cal lost to USC. He played great against them, too, so why does it hurt him? I don't get it, but he's not getting any hype.
4. Jason White - it's a shame that last years Big 12 Championship Game will prevent White from getting the Heisman THIS year. Still, he's getting late support, so he is the darkhorse right now.

My pick for winner? Leinart. And truthfully, I think he's the most deserving. A classy guy who doesn't beat his chest for being probably the most consistent player in America.

I don't think it can be controvertial this year because noone really stands out. I'd go with Leinart just because he finds ways to win and is so clutch. He's the Tom Brady of college football.

Cedric Benson - 270 carries, 1,599 yards, 18 TDs, 19 receptions, 166 yards, 1 TD

Adrian Peterson - 286 carries, 1,671 yards, 12 TDs, 3 receptions, 0 TDs

And guess which RB has had the advantage of having a returning Heisman QB to help take pressure off of him and which one hasn't.

Peterson is a more talented RB. He has not been the better RB.

But there won't be any controversy. When no matter cares that not one single defensive player will be invited, how can there be any other controversy?

I think Peterson and Benson will be the top 2. Peterson will probably win, but after seeing those stats, Benson appears to deserve it. I didn't realize he was having that good of a season.

The Heisman trophy sucks. I have to explain to my children some day why Eric Crouch has one, but Tommie Frazier doesn't. My vote's for Mike Williams, the best player in the country (**** THE NCAA)

Derrick Johnson is the best player in college football. Think he finishes in the top 10?
