Rutgers and Maryland Game? Why is that game even mentioned?
I think it has to be App State AT Michigan. That is just plain crazy. Stanford over USC was pretty big, but a Div II team came knocking on the door of the big house and left with a win. Here IMO is the best way to look at this, When USC gave up it's final TD the USC fans were looking around like "WHAT!?" at each other and looked kind of drunk.
When App. State blocked that Field Goal, Michigan fans didn't even look at one another they were still looking on the field and i think EVERYONE in the country knew what those fans were thinking.
What the Hell Just happened!!!!!? We Lost to WHO!? I think they were waiting for the PA Announcer to announce, "Lloyd Carr has just been fired."

In the NCAAF History of upsets for a long, long time. Truely a David and Goliath comparative and the initial instigator of all this field of dream reality wins for sure! A program out of having developed in their own right to out in Ann Arbor and do the impossible, beat the Wolverines of the Big 10!
As I have said over and over again the task in an enviorment of the "Big House" was more than overwhelming, it was just an awesome physical effort of these guys from the small "David" school from the mountains of Appalachia! A huge dream becoming a reality for hard work ethic and desires beyond explaination!
Definitely, the game of "2007!".

USC - Stanford was definitely a good one, but I'd agree with you guys and take the Appalachian State - Michigan game. That was a monumental upset for sure. And I understand why they would list the Arkansas - LSU game, but I don't think that was as big an upset as it was made out to be. Yes, the Razorbacks knocked off a #1 team... but that's just the nature of the Battle for the Golden Boot. That's like Arkansas - Texas. You knew it was going to be a great game. I liked the top three, though, as far as biggest upsets. I would definitely agree with those.

There are some good upsets of this season on that list. I noticed that people can add to the list, so I think if there is an upset you don't see there you should add it.

I say Illinois over OSU. For the simple fact that Illinois won by 7 points not just by 1 or 2.
Plus it was at OSU and Illinois has NEVER beaten a #1.

I have to agree, I mean the other ones felt like the underdog just got lucky, but the Illinois - OSU game looked like Illinois really had their stuff together

Totally DISAGREE
Illinois was having a good year and was playing competitive ball all year. and Illinois is a Big Ten program which means they will land recruits just because of their conference affiliation.
App. State wasn't even in the Same Division!!! much less the same conference.
Plus you said Illinois had Never beaten a Number 1 team. When was the last time App State beat a Div I number five team?
Heck even a top 10 team?

I agree with that. For a Division II school to beat a team like Michigan in front of 110,000 Michigan fans in the Big House... WOW. That's a huge accomplishment. Not only is it much more difficult to recruit the quality player like those of Michigan, they don't have NEAR the type of depth. App State won that game in dramatic fashion as well with the final play. That really makes it one of the best upsets that I've ever seen, and surely the best of 2006. No Division II team had beaten a team ranked in the AP poll from 1989-2006, and it's unlikely that it had ever happened before that. The Division I subdivisions were created in 1978.
