Cowboys sign LB Ayodele

IRVING, Texas (Ticker) - The Dallas Cowboys have turned to local product Akin Ayodele to shore up its linebacking corps.

The Cowboys on Monday signed unrestricted free agent Ayodele to a five-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ayodele, a native of Irving, spent the first four seasons of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him in the third round of the 2002 draft.

The 6-2, 246-pound Ayodele has been a solid and versatile player since coming into the league, recording at least 100 tackles in all four seasons.

Ayodele will be a a valuable asset for Dallas, which switched to a 3-4 defense last season for the first time in franchise's 46-year history.
