'Boys pick Johnson to back up Romo
Report: 'Boys pick Johnson to back up Romo
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports the Cowboys have reached terms with free agent QB Brad Johnson to be their backup for Tony Romo.
Johnson felt "a strong comfort level" with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, whom he's older than. He should be a good mentor for Romo to fall back on and if Romo gets hurt, a better option than Drew Bledsoe.

I have a hard time laughing at a team for signing a backup that has a career record of 67-44, is in the top 20 in career passer rating, passed for 3,000 yards or more 5 times, 3rd best win-loss ratio among active QB's, completed 60% or more of his passes for 12 straight seasons and been to 2 pro bowls and has won a Super Bowl.
Not a bad back up to have behind a young QB if you ask me

I am more laughing at all the boys' fans who tore him apart now will use the same stats that Vikings fans did to rationalize signing him. Brad Johnson is a great mentor, just look at all the young prodigy's that replaced him in othr cities, LOL.

good pickup...at times he could step in and play but he will be great for a guy like Romo. A superbowl champ as back-up definately cant hurt.

He's just a backup, Im not that big on "mentoring" backups. If they wanted a "mentor" they would have brought back Testaverde. IMO Johnson isnt great, but it was him, Harrington or Rattay. But then again, when you are looking at backups, thats usually about what you are going to get

He is what he is, and he'll do what he does.
