IRVING -- Rookie offensive lineman Doug Free's chance to start was going well right up to the point he was injured.

Free, a fourth-round pick, started at left tackle in place of Flozell Adams but sprained his right knee midway through the third quarter.

Adams and starting right tackle Marc Colombo, both recovering from knee injuries, were held out for precautionary reasons. Pat McQuistan started in Colombo's place.

Should Free be forced to miss extended time, expect McQuistan to move back to the left side.

Once it became certain that Kosier was going to be the LG this season McQuistan was moved back to tackle and has been working at both spots to be the swing tackle. In order to save a game day roster spot some teams instead of having two back up tackles will only hav one that can fill in at eithre spot for a game and then the next week the backup can come in and play.
