I know Dallas was looking at signing him last year but the Saints offered him more money. He had a good year for the Saints but for what ever reason they were trying to trade him around the Draft.

According to a source, the Cowboys' interest has nothing to do with Keith Davis' situation but rather taking advantage of an opportunity to add a good player. The source said the team must determine if Smith is a good character fit before pursuing things further. Smith, who turns 28 next month, has been arrested twice in the past three years after accusations of brandishing a gun.
With Matt Millen running things I bet they are still waiting for the draft to happen. It would explain why they always draft a WR in the top ten picks.
Is he still a ball-hawking safety though? He might be a good match-up with Williams. I wouldn't spend 5 seconds, if I were the Cowboys trying to depend on Davis.
Smith would be a great add. I dont know if we could outbid the other teams at this point, but it would be well worth it for Jones to try. He would really tighten up the secondary
Word is the Vikes offer is more than Tampa's, as of a cpl days ago. Most assume he'll end up in Tampa, but those opinions may be solely based on familiarity. I'm not so sure he won't chase the $$. The staff apparently asked Ronde's opinion of bringing him back, and he was for it.
I wonder why the Saints let him go. Just last year they sign him and gave him a 3.5 million sign on bonus and then at thedraft they were trying to trade him but had no takers. What I can tell he played well for the Saints last year and even though they dont have a proven guy to take his place they let him go.
