IRVING – As cornerback Terence Newman enters the final two seasons of his contract with the Cowboys, he's decided to change agents.
Newman has replaced Kennard McGuire with Ben Dogra. When McGuire created his own company this spring, Newman elected to go with Dogra. Strong safety Roy Williams also is represented by Dogra.
Newman said he's known Dogra since he left college and that relationship was a big reason why he signed with him.
Dogra helped broker a deal for Williams last summer, when he signed a five-year, $25.2 million contract with an $11.1 million signing bonus. It was the highest signing bonus given to a safety in NFL history.
Before his contract ends after the 2009 season, Newman would like to extend it.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said he doubted the organization would restructure any further deals before the regular season ends.
Newman is looking at what 49ers cornerback Nate Clements signed for during the off-season, when he received an eight-year, $80 million contract with $22 million in guarantees.
