My First Cowboy's Mock
1A- James Hardy WR, Indiana - I think he is gonna shoot past alot of WR prospects. With a very good combine, this could actually be low. I base this on talent and production, this could be changed if character issues hurt his stock
1B- Leodis McKelvin CB, Troy- Could be this years Aaron Ross, both in the draft and on the field. makes henry a NB by week 8. Can return kicks as well
2- Red Bryant DT, Texas A&M- Not a great year for NT's with him and Okam the best bets. Okam is a better talent, but Bryant is much more steady. He is a better 3-4 NT that Okam, who may be the second coming of Shaun Rogers
3- Heath Benedict OL, Newberry- May be high for a development guy, but he has the talent to be a true anchore. Dont know if he is a pro Tackle or Guard. Im a fan of being loaded on the line, and with Benedict we would have an outstanding core of young Lineman. Benedict could be a candite to take Flo's spot down the line or Koiser's. Keep in mind that Houck, the guy who developed Allen as a pro is back in Dallas. Not making a player comparison, but he can coach up small school OL. Allen "arrived" alot sooner than expected under Houck
4- Anthony Aldridge. Not a fan of taking a HB high. Aldridge is a tiny scat back. Aldridge is a dangerous returner, and can line up as a WR. IMO a great fit for this team
5- Joshua Johnson, QB San Diego. Mobile QB with good upside. A guy we can groom and trade for a high pick in the Matt Hasselbeck, Matt Shaub, Rob Johnson (dont laugh, netted Jacksonville the 9th overall pick) mold
6- Trevor Laws, DT Notre Dame. Value pick. I think he will drop because he isnt a specimen. May have a hard time making the roster, but if he sticks he is a Jay Ratliff type who could play both DE or NT
7- Alley Brousard, HB LSU. Big back and great value. Allows us to move barber away from short yardage. Competes with Alonzo Coleman for 3rd HB spot

You guys are to set on RB to take two, seems like some wasteful draft picks. Alley Brousard is inconsistent, I wouldn't take him, you guys are also set at NT with Ratliff having a great year Ferguson returning and you guys taking a NT later in the draft. I'd take Hester in the second, he's more consistent and is a good reciever out of the backfield, that'd be a great pick IMO. Don't take my word for it though, I want him to be the next Jim Finn.

Jones is a FA and wont be back, and Thompson sucks. Brousard is a good value pick/role player their. Even with what he is now, he could handle the load if Barber went down. Aldridge could be a poor mans Eric Metcalf, but he is only like 170 LBS, so with him you need another quality back.
As for NT, Ratliff is really a DE. He will proboblystarting their next season. Ferg is a very good player, but he is getting up their, and wears down. I think Johnson is gonna take the role Ratliff was supposed to have before Ferg got hurt, a swing NT/DE. He's is perfect for that, a n Overtackle who is more a DE than NT in a 3-4, whereas Ratliff is more an Undertackle

Oh yeah I forgot this was Jones Contract year, yeah he won't be back and you guys would be crazy to take him back, he's on the decline. I can't remember if Keiland Williams is coming out, I don't think he is because he's still a sophomore, but yeah I guess I'd take Alley Brousard if you guys really want to move Barber away from short yardage, Brousard isn't as explosive though, he can be at times but he still needs to lose some weight to be an effective NFL back especially to carry the load if Barber went down.

Thats the one thing that bothers me about the Aldridge/Brousarrd duo is that neither is a guy who will ever be an every down player. Tho I think Brousard would have to fight for a roster spot, and having him be a backup FB/HB swing guy with Coleman or Battle if he is brought to camp again as the #3, defacto backup. I do think Brousard would have alot of value as a short yardage guy

Yeah, but you guys have a pretty early pick? Possibly take Slaton or Charles, Slaton and Barber = a nasty combo. He'd def still be on the board when it got to you guys too. Lol, I'ma stop giving you guys ideas.

Alridge is sick. He is small, but is quick and fast, and does everything Slaton or Charles would do here, and will go 2 rounds later

That's true and you guys do need to get some youth in that recieving core, and DB has been an issue with you guys this year.

I definitely don't want an RB in the first round. That's for sure. Some mocks have us taking Felix Jones with our 2nd 1st rounder, and i just don't see why right now.
On a curious note, let's say the Cowboys sign a big CB or WR in Free Agency. What do we do in the first round then?(keep in mind i don't want an RB, lol)...Calias Campbell maybe?

Great qustion. I would say BPA.
A very good LT prospect like Otah would be nice, but Jones wont do it. Mabey someone like Reggie Smith who can play CB and Saftey.
I think we may go after Berrian (or may not) but I honestly dont think we will go ater a CB. The top ones are over priced (unless NA comes free, and their is no middle class ( I think Florence is the most notable after those 2/3) I could see use dangling Spears for a young vet CB
