Mickey: See, I told you guys and told you guys not to jump to conclusions about Zach Thomas' deal until it was signed and sent into the NFL. That occurred on Thursday, and that one-year, $3 million deal everyone reported over the past weekend was close, but not accurate. The Cowboys actually signed Thomas to a four-year, $19 million deal, which did include the $1 million signing bonus. That means with a first-year base of $1 million and the $1 million signing bonus now prorated over four years, his 2008 cap figure is $1.25 million. And it's my understanding easily-achieved playing incentives will void the deal after one year, which means if he does, then he will only cost the Cowboys another $750,000 against the cap - plus possible incentive pay - the next season. So again, from a salary cap standpoint, the Cowboys are forfeiting very little to bring Thomas aboard, and this low cap cost certainly will not prevent the Cowboys from acquiring either a veteran or rookie cornerback with talent. Come on.
