Default CB:Who playes where, and who is out

Even if you dont include Adam Jones, we finsished the draft with quality depth at CB, add ing Jenkins and getting a potential steal in Scandrick. The question now is whop play's where. What role will each CB have

Here is my guess

-Terence Newman: Obviously the #1. Even if Jones was in the league the past year, Newman would still be the top dog

-Anthony Henry: Ideally Nickel where he should thrive. All 3 of the new CB's are Man guys that Phillips likes. Henry excels in press and isnt the perfect fit for our defence. His big problem is health and moving him to the Nickel will limit his chances at injury. Healthy he is a very good CB. Hurt he is practicly worthless in man coverage. The question is obviously Pac Man,and you dont even have to ask. Henry isnt suited to play FS like alot of people think. His strength is press coverage. I wouldnt be shocked if he is cut depending on Jones reinstatement and how fast Jenkins picks the system up

-Pac Man Jones: Will be the #2 CB when he is ready, but when will that be. An outstaning Man CB, he is the perfect fit

-Mike Jenkins: Most likley dime, but if there are hangups with Jones could see time in Nickel. He will be the NB once Henry is hurt

-Orlando Scandrick: Another CB that excels in man coverage. Could get some time in Dime, but most likley ticked to ST's this year

-Alan Ball. See Orlando Scandrick. I think he would be more likley to get playing time on defence than Scandrick due to a year i the system. Kind of a wild card, seems to have decent upside, but a project. Could be cut

henery should not play much at nickel. pacman even if reinstated wont be in great playing shape until mid season.he should be are nickel along with jenkins. plus when healthy henery is a great corner back. he was playing awesome last season before he got hurt.

In the nickel, Newman would take the slot, so yes Henry is in.

Exactly why I want to see him in Nickel only. That would reduce his likleyhood of getting hurt by limiting his snaps and taking him out of run support he would have to do in base D

Honestly I think who plays CB is completely going to be based on matchups this year with our depth at WR. When facing larger WRs Henry gets the majority of snaps. Facing a group of smaller quicker wrs Newmann and an in shape Pacman Jones would be ideal. Kind of like a NBA approach and maybe even giving different dominant wrs multipul looks with different defenders leaning to whatever works best. I'm sure we've done similar things in the past but it should be more visible with more talent at CB than we've in years.

As for Henry at FS, I agree he's best suited for man coverage. His greatest asset is his being ability to jam a wr at the line which does make you question his effectiveness away from the line. Even with that said, I can't help and think he would of excelled in some of the passing situtations we saw Roy Williams in last year.
