Carter, who played his college football at Georgia, will be brought along slowly for the Brigade. Carter will begin his Brigade career on the practice squad and his progress will be closely monitored by Head Coach Kevin Porter over the next several weeks.

The Brigade, who have had three starting quarterbacks this season, are excited to add another quarterback to the roster. "We are happy to give Quincy a chance to succeed in the Arena Football League. He has had success in the NFL and the af2; we feel he can do some positive things in the AFL. Quarterbacks D Bryant and Matt Kohn have a lot of talent and they can become great quarterbacks, with Quincy in the mix it just adds to the talent pool at quarterback," said executive director Brad Likens.

Lavonya Quintelle "Quincy" Carter has been no stranger to controversy. He began his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys and was one of a string of short lived successors to Troy Aikman. He was released by Coach Bill Parcells for a failed drug test. He then played for the New York Jets and Coach Herm Edwards. At that time, ESPN's Chris Mortenson reported that Carter was being treated for a bipolar disorder. After leading the Jets to the playoffs in 2004, Carter was admitted into drug rehab. At that time, former Jets head coach and current Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards said, ""Quincy has done everything and more that was asked of him. He came to work early, stayed late, and exhibited good character the entire time. When Chad Pennington was injured, Quincy stepped into a tough situation. If not for Quincy's performance during that time, the Jets would not have made the playoffs. After being around Quincy this past year, not only can I say that he is a good football player, but I can also say that he is of good character," Edwards said.

Carter then played for the Canadian Football League, and most recently in the af2. Carter visited the Brigade in the preseason, and met with Owner Chris Likens and Coach Kevin Porter. The two sides agreed that it is now time for both to move forward together. Coach Porter said, "I am anxious to get a guy with a big name and big arm in a Brigade uniform."

Quincy Carter Facts:

2nd round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in 2001. Carter was the 53rd overall player chosen.

2nd round pick to the Chicago Cubs in 1996. Carter spent two seasons in the Cubs organization before heading to Georgia to play collegiate football. Carter was the 52nd overall player chosen in the '96 MLB draft.

Carter had the unenviable task of replacing Cowboy legend Troy Aikman in 2001.

1998 SEC Freshman of the year. 25-11 overall record while at Georgia. Carter left the University of Georgia after his junior year.

Kansas City (1-7) travels to Utah to take on the 0-9 Blaze on Saturday, May 3rd. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 pm CST. KSMO62 and 810 WHB will provide the television and radio coverage from Salt Lake City. Former Ohio State Buckeye Joe Germaine will lead the AFL's best offense against Denario Smalls and Kansas City's second ranked defense.

Other Brigade News and Notes

2007 Rookie of the Year Charles Frederick has been placed on the injured reserve with a knee injury. Frederick will be eligible to return May 22nd when Kansas City travels to Philadelphia to play the currently undefeated Soul. Frederick is second on the Brigade will 11 touchdowns.

DB Robb Butler, FB Brandon Isaiah, and LB Antonio Ficklin have all been placed on recallable waivers. All three will be signed to the practice squad.

OL Jon Hall has cleared waivers and has been added to Kansas City's practice squad.

LB Jerry Turner has been released and will not return to the team.

Mr. Flutter Ball is back... I'ma laugh when he looks 10 times the QB he ever was with us. Chances are.. I won't be laughing about that anytime soon tho heh.
