Default TLH: Sorry, Chris Henry, We’ve Got Our Guy

The Landry Hat

Troubled wide receiver Chris Henry apparently has his eyes set on two teams: The Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints.

This news has spread around for the last couple of days, and I tried hard to ignore it. But I shouldn’t. In my opinion, Henry is not an upgrade from Patrick Crayton. The biggest difference is Crayton has a clean criminal record–and that is a big difference the two players have right now.

The Cowboys have brought in Adam “Pacman” Jones for his second chance. There’s no reason the Cowboys have to be the halfway house for all criminally charged NFL players. Chris Henry ought to spend his energy in trying to get a spot on the Saints roster. We don’t need him.

I know one can argue he’ll come cheaply, but enough is enough.

If he wants to sign his life away like Pacman and forgo any chance of a guaranteed contract with tons of stipulations I say let him. Call it the last chance contract... Get in any trouble you're out and we get half your salary back.

Why not have players playing for their last shot if we can minimize the monetary loss and capitolize on the situation they've put themselves in. Rich Uncle Jerry tends to make everything OK for everyone who doesn't cross him personally.

See, maybe they need each other to stay out of trouble together... even tho they were in trouble in college too... ha!

Like I said, if its a bad contract for the player and good for us the risk is worth the reward.

Besides, is Terry Glenn going to play a full season this year? Probably not... where does that leave us at in terms of depth at WR?
