ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- It's hard to find a linebacking trio in the NFL right now with a more impressive collective résumé than the Ian Gold-Al Wilson-D.J. Williams triumvirate.
Two of them have been Pro Bowlers. Another narrowly missed being his conference's defensive rookie of the year in 2004. As a group, they possess speed, acumen and solid tackling technique.
But for Williams, the 2005 season was less rosy from an individual perspective than his rookie campaign. In his first year, he stepped in for Gold -- who'd signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- and led the Broncos in tackles with 114. Last year, with Gold handling the bulk of the weakside linebacking duties, Williams' playing time and tackle tally dropped, and he finished the season with 66 stops.
