agree with plummer since they are too close to the super bowl to start experimenting. Unlike rivers i don't think plummer was drafted to push the starter or be the starter right away, though i do think plummer will play better because he konws cutler is behind him. When san diego drafted rivers they thought brees was a flop, then brees turned all-pro all the sudden. I believe taht the broncos look at cutler as there successor similar to leinart in arizona(warner just got an extension this offseason) or rodgers in green bay.

Default If Cutler starts in 2007...

What happens to Plummer? Where will he be traded? What do we get in return ? What do we do with the money from his salary? Any high price free agents,,,say Jared Allen (yah, I know he doesn't play for the Browns, ..lol). I do have a few thoughts that need pondering...any answers???

Yeh, heres an answer...Plummer wont be traded. His career has been turned around since being in Denver. And while Cutler is performing well, he isnt out performing Plummer by any means.

I think its unavoidable that Cutler will be the future of this team. You dont spent millions of dollars and trade up in the draft for a backup. When Plummer will be replaced no clue. I think Cutler is great and will be a great quaterback however I do also believe that Plummer is playing his best right now and did lead us to a 13-3 season. It will be interesting to se what happens next.

Well, guess you have an opinion, too. Cutler may not be outperforming Plummer, but he still is LEARNING the system Plummer has been in it now for 4 years. While I do agree Plummer had a great season last year, HE DID CHOKE in the AFC Championship game, losing one of our best chances to return to a very winnable SB (think Shanny wasn't/still isn't fuming about that one). Cutler has looked better than any other rookie QB (yes, I did see Elway in his rookie year, not saying he'll be better, cuz I don't think that will be the case). Cutler has a good grasp now, next year he'll be challenging Plummer for the starter spot. He's smart, accurate, has a better arm and is equally as mobile as Plummer.

Another fact is that the Broncos redid Plummer's contract so that they paid all his signing bonus UP FRONT, meaning he only has his base salary left. He could be cut or traded w/o any big cap hits. Is that a coincident? HMMMM

Also, his value is at the highest it's been since his days in AZ. With a more than capable replacement, his high salary could be used to revamp the DL, add a high profile FA, and still get more compensation (maybe a 2nd-3rd rd draft choice) to help perpetuate a productive future in surrounding talent around Cutler, THE FUTURE OF THE BRONCOS.

I have nothing against Plummer (I must say, I don't think he can lead us to a SB victory), and SHOULD he lead us to the SB, I'd be happy to eat my words. That being said, consider the points I have made and tell me Shanny hasn't thought a little about this. Remember, Trevor Pryce was thought to be a franchise player at one time too!

Yeh I agree Cutler hasnt mastered the whole offense while Plummer has. But it will take at least a whole year and he still might not be better than Plummer at that point.

Agreed, Plummer has mastered this offense, he ran it to the best of his ability last season (outside of the AFC championship game, which I do give was not all his fault). Shanny has built it based upon his strong points. I am not a Plummer basher, just trying to keep in perspective what I believe will be in the Broncos best interest for the future. Cutler hasn't got it down, but he looks awful good for a rookie (better than Young OR Leinart) RIGHT NOW. If he looks this good now, how's he going to look by next year. And my suggestion to trade Plummer is based on that, plus Plummer will still have great value by next year as well. If you wait 3-4 more years (which I don't think is realistic based upon Cutler's contract), his value will be diminished because of his age (33-36??) and possible injuries.
