Well, guess you have an opinion, too. Cutler may not be outperforming Plummer, but he still is LEARNING the system Plummer has been in it now for 4 years. While I do agree Plummer had a great season last year, HE DID CHOKE in the AFC Championship game, losing one of our best chances to return to a very winnable SB (think Shanny wasn't/still isn't fuming about that one). Cutler has looked better than any other rookie QB (yes, I did see Elway in his rookie year, not saying he'll be better, cuz I don't think that will be the case). Cutler has a good grasp now, next year he'll be challenging Plummer for the starter spot. He's smart, accurate, has a better arm and is equally as mobile as Plummer.
Another fact is that the Broncos redid Plummer's contract so that they paid all his signing bonus UP FRONT, meaning he only has his base salary left. He could be cut or traded w/o any big cap hits. Is that a coincident? HMMMM
Also, his value is at the highest it's been since his days in AZ. With a more than capable replacement, his high salary could be used to revamp the DL, add a high profile FA, and still get more compensation (maybe a 2nd-3rd rd draft choice) to help perpetuate a productive future in surrounding talent around Cutler, THE FUTURE OF THE BRONCOS.
I have nothing against Plummer (I must say, I don't think he can lead us to a SB victory), and SHOULD he lead us to the SB, I'd be happy to eat my words. That being said, consider the points I have made and tell me Shanny hasn't thought a little about this. Remember, Trevor Pryce was thought to be a franchise player at one time too!
