DENVER -- Preseason results may soon be forgotten by the public at large, but that doesn't mean that a positive result isn't welcomed. Therefore, the Broncos' 35-10 thrashing of the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night provided precisely the kind of statement that a team with legitimate and realistic Super Bowl aspirations most desires to make.
They were efficient, averaging 6.7 yards per snap. They were precise, avoiding even one turnover just eight days after losing three in a loss at Detroit. They turned a promising pass rush into sacks, notching three of Billy Volek and forcing another interception after crowding eight men at the line of scrimmage and showing blitz before pulling back.
They were dominant, rolling to massive advantages in yards from scrimmage (434 to 252), first downs (26 to 17), rushing yardage (238 to 80) and time of possession (33:43 to 26:17).
"I thought we had a great effort tonight," Head Coach Mike Shanahan said. "I just take my hat off to the guys –- they were ready to play."
