Default Henry would need to take paycut to remain a Bronco?

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_7939169

The running backs. The Broncos got a couple headaches and only 691 yards in return for the $6 million they paid Travis Henry last year. It's clear Henry will return in 2008 only if he accepts a substantial pay cut from the $6.7 million he's tentatively scheduled to make.

If the Broncos and Henry can't agree on a new deal, the team will go out and get another lead, power-type back. Selvin Young is ideal for 10 to 15 carries a game, but Shanahan said he's not a 20-to-25 carry back.

"No, definitely not," Shanahan said. "Any time a guy's been hurt as many times as he did, you know that there's no possible way he can carry the ball 20, 25 times a game. The body just won't hold up. He went down too many times this year. But you are looking at a guy that you know has big-play potential."

the way denver does players man..its like they have a damn factory churning out good enough players to excel in that system...now it hasnt been AS good the last few years but its on the comeup...this new breed they have in their right now is on the rise and in the next 2-3 years can easily be back in contention..i mean they were IN it as close as 2005...

they dont need travis henry...he's cool..he's i guess better than what they have, but im sure shanny can pull some random guy out of his pocket that can run for 1342 and 7 tds if the line played right.

As it's true Selvin has had injuries in the past, I'm confident he could tote the rock for a few years behind that zone blocking offense.

Shanny knows RB talent, he can land a guy in the draft again or go with Hall, Bell and young. Henry is injury prone himself.

I have a good feeling we'll be taking a day one running back. Shanny has learned that you need to build threw the draft. He's also decided to go with what he knows best and thats offense. Theres a general feeling that this is going to be an offensive draft which is why I'm certain that we'll be drafting Rashad Mendenhall with our pick.

That would be a great pick for them. They have to get younger and stop trying the genertic version of fixing that position. They have escaped IMO in the past with finding these guys and Henry and Young dont have enough to be every down RB's IMO. I like Mendenhall but I think a guy like Felix Jones could end up being a very good pick for them.
