Lions sign DT Jackson, TE FitzSimmons, DE Redding

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions on Wednesday signed unrestricted free agent Tyoka Jackson to a two-year deal and re-signed restricted free agents Casey FitzSimmons and Cory Redding to one-year deals.
Jackson joins the Lions after 11 seasons in the NFL. He played defensive end and tackle for the St. Louis in 2001-05 and worked under new Lions coach Rod Marinelli, who was Jackson's position coach at Tampa Bay from 1996-2000.
Last season, the 6-foot-2, 280-pound Jackson played in all 16 games and had 30 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He set single-season career-highs during the 2003 season with 45 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
FitzSimmons, a tight end, began his NFL career with Detroit in 2003. He played in 14 games last season and had 10 receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. He also had a career-high 19 tackles on special teams last year.
Redding, a defensive end, has played three seasons with the Lions. He started in all 16 games last year and set a career-high with 42 tackles.
