LIONS: Five things to watch for tonight's exhibition
LIONS: Five things to watch for tonight's exhibition
Quote:
• Calvin Johnson: CJ says this doesn’t count as his debut, but this is the fans’ first chance to see the Lions’ latest top-10 wide receiver in a game. He is slated to play about a half.
• J.T. O’Sullivan: The journeyman just got to Detroit, but he is already putting heat on Dan Orlovsky in the backup QB battle. He is scheduled to get the bulk of the snaps.
• The lines: You can tell only so much in practice, when guys take a couple of steps and then pull up. If the Lions are really going to be better in the trenches, we should get a hint.
• Secondary: Cincy QB Carson Palmer, one of the NFL’s top passers, shouldn’t play much. Still, we should get a little better idea of how the Lions’ secondary is shaping up.
• Run defense: The Lions’ run defense is based on belief and discipline. You have to do your job and trust your teammates will do theirs. If this team is really starting to come together, it should show up here.
