Lions insider Tom Kowalski tells WDFN-AM Detroit that backup quarterbacks J.T. O'Sullivan and Dan Orlovsky played better than he expected in Thursday's preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. They each seem to have a good grasp of the offense, and are quick to make decisions, as evidenced in the Lions' 27-26 comeback win.
However, so far as he can see in a single preseason game, Kowalski thinks the Lions still are suffering from the same maladies that affected them last year, namely: the lack their own consistent ground game and an inability to pressure neither the opposing quarterback nor stop the run.
