Lions | Millen could be on the hot seat
Sat, 15 Jul 2006 18:12:10 -0700

Chris Harry, of the Orlando Sentinel, reports Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen could be on the hot seat this upcoming season. Since he has taken over, the Lions have a record of 21-59, a .263 winning percentage. The team also has five consecutive seasons with double-digit losses, the longest such streak in the NFL.

Millen should'a never got a GM position. once he gets fired from the Lions, he can go back to something more suited to his expertise. like locker room custodian.

Millen has set the Lions back years and they will never recover until he is gone.

Millen sucks-but he has not been that bad. That 1999 team was old and slow and going nowhere. Really just looking at his moves without looking at the record-there is nothing wrong with most of them. Its the record of course that matters the most.
He is not as bad as non-Lions fans think he is....he is not as excusable as some Lions fans think he is.

Millen was a great football commentator before the Lions came calling (though not sure if he is on the hotseat-he just signed an extension.

yeah, ford field is a NICE stadium, along with Comerica park, I just keep wondering tho, not taking anything away from Detroit fans at all but how is it that losing teams (Detroit Tigers/Lions, Carolin a when they were bad, Seattle got the deal done when they were bad, Tampa Bay when they were bad) ALWAYS get new stadiums and teams like the Twins/Vikings cant?

It has very little to do with win-loss percentage and a lot to do with fan loyalty. Seattle, Detroit, Green Bay, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Tampa, Oakland, Philly, Washington and Dallas are teams that will sell out every game even when they go 2-14. Hence, money to buy new stadiums. Other teams are not so lucky. If the fans want a stadium, they need to support the team. If they don't, they have no one to blame but themselves.
