Man, I forgot all about Boss Bailey, I haven't heard much about him, that is why I forgot about him, Teddy, Boss, and Ernie are sick but Teddy and Boss got to stay healthy and if I was a Lions fan, I would worry about Ernie's concussions...

Nah, Ernie gets to wear one of those special helmets. The only worries I have about Ernie is that he doesn't injure some of his teamates during training camp.

Not true from what I'm hearing. I hear he was named to the #2 Squad not named #2 WR. Sunday he was with the #3 Squad.
As far as I can tell Bradford is #2. C-Rog still has a lot to prove. (which I hope to GOD he CAN!!!)

Mike Williams endures exhaustive stretch in heat
Wednesday, August 02, 2006
By Tom Kowalski
ALLEN PARK -- Detroit Lions coaches were not trying to kill wide receiver Mike Williams, it just looked that way.
With the temperature in the mid 90s and the humidity high, the Lions practiced for 90 minutes on their outdoor fields Tuesday afternoon. It was their 10th practice in five days -- all in pads and helmets -- of hot weather conditions. By the middle of the workout, it was clear that the players had hit the wall. Their body language revealed a team that was hot, exhausted, sore, tired and miserable.
At one point during practice, Williams took off his helmet, shoulder pads and jersey in an effort to cool down -- something no other player attempted to do. Team trainers, though, determined he was no worse off than anybody else and, after Williams suited back up, he went back to work.
During practice in hot conditions, receivers will usually run a play or two -- rarely more than two in a row -- before coming out. It's done to keep the players fresh and to get all 11 wide receivers in camp into the offensive rotation.
When Williams returned, though, the coaches had him run five consecutive plays. After the third play, he walked toward the sideline -- it's located about 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage -- when he saw the coaches and tapped his chest in a manner that suggested "Me again?"
When that was confirmed, Williams turned and jogged toward the huddle. After he ran his fifth play in a row, he came out for a short period before going back in. After running two more plays, he raised his arm to show that he wanted to come out. Another receiver ran into the huddle while Williams headed to the sideline, but the coaches sent Williams right back in again.
Williams ran every play seemingly without complaint and was clearly exhausted by the end of it. He ran through every pattern and even attempted to block a defender downfield if the pass went to a different receiver. Afterward, Williams sat on a cooler and trainers applied cold towels to his head and neck.
As they do with all players, the trainers monitored Williams throughout the practice. If he had showed any signs of health problems, they would have pulled him out.
It's team policy that coaches aren't available for interviews after the afternoon practice and, as Williams walked toward the air-conditioned locker room, he didn't look like a player who was willing to stop and chat.

So, do all the Lion's receivers and Boss seems kind of long and light to play the middle. I hope he can hold up.

I think Boss will be fine in the middle in this Defense. He's bigger then a few other LB's who have played the position in the same D

I agree, he just needs to learn the position better since he's always been an OLB if I'm not mistaken. The biggest thing will be to stay healthy.

Williams said Martz has had high praise for the entire unit.
“He said (Kitna) is the best quarterback he’s ever seen, and that includes Joe Montana and Dan Marino,” Williams said. “Jon Kitna is the best quarterback that he’s ever seen in his system.
“He said it’s the best wide receiver corps he’s ever had and the best tight end (Marcus Pollard). Everything around him is the best he’s ever had. And he said, ‘I’ve been around some good teams, as you all know.’”

LIONS NOTEBOOK: Injuries keep plenty of Lions, including Rogers, on sideline
August 2, 2006

FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER
Five days into training camp, injuries are already taking their toll on the Lions.
Rex Tucker, the starting right tackle, crumpled to the ground and clutched his left knee during Tuesday afternoon's practice. He cursed as he was carted off.
Team officials said he suffered a knee sprain and would undergo an MRI.
Shaun Rogers, the Pro Bowl defensive tackle, crumpled to the ground and clutched his left shoulder during Monday morning's practice. He wore a sling Tuesday morning, but had it off by Tuesday afternoon.
Coach Rod Marinelli said Rogers had a sprained shoulder and was week to week.
"He's going to be fine," Marinelli said. "He's sore, a little discomfort from it. ... Hopefully we'll get him back here soon."
The defense was decimated Tuesday. Rogers was one of four defensive linemen out. The others were Shaun Cody (knee), James Hall (hamstring) and Cory Redding (personal matter).
At linebacker, Teddy Lehman (foot) was out. Boss Bailey (ankle) was limited in the morning and out in the afternoon.
In the secondary, Jon McGraw (knee) was out. After sitting out in the morning, Fernando Bryant (hamstring) returned in the afternoon.
And tight end Dan Campbell (elbow) and wide receiver Scottie Vines (groin) were out.
Marinelli focused on the positives -- that the backups were getting more reps and the team was learning to deal with being shorthanded.
"One thing I talk to them about is, there's some good out of that in that there's some adversity there," Marinelli said. "We just can't worry about it. We can't think about it because we can't change it. ..."
BACKUP BATTLE: Marinelli entered training camp saying Josh McCown was his No. 2 quarterback and Dan Orlovsky No. 3. But Orlovsky has received some snaps with the second team.
"He's a big, young, strong-armed man," Marinelli said. "He's a gym rat. He's here all the time, man. He's working, and he's earning some reps. ... Both of those guys are working with both groups."
Does Orlovsky have a shot at the backup job?
"He's got a chance," Marinelli said. "He's doing a good job of competing -- a very good job."
So it's not settled then?
"No," Marinelli said. "They're in there banging -- banging pretty good."
A REAL PRACTICE: The Lions will hold their Black and Blue scrimmage Saturday at Ford Field. The doors will open at 5 p.m. Practice is scheduled to start at 6:15.
Marinelli said he planned to hold a real practice, not an easy-going exhibition of light drills. The players will be in pads. They probably will do things like smack each other in 9-on-7 running drills and move the ball in two-minute drills.
"I want it to be what we're doing here," Marinelli said. "It's really important. I never want to waste these guys' time. ...
"I'm hoping that the environment changes but our attitude doesn't. If things change around us, we just do what we do."
FULL CIRCLE: After Dave Pearson caught a pass during team drills Tuesday morning, he got high fives from Marinelli and tight end Marcus Pollard.
"I was glad I caught the ball," Pearson said. "So that felt good."
The catch was Pearson's first in a football practice since high school.
He played tight end and linebacker at Brighton High. After spending his first three years at Michigan on the defensive line, he moved to center for his last two years. He has been trying to make it as a center or guard in the NFL since 2004, but now he's back at tight end.
"It's kind of come full circle," Pearson said. "The coaches approached me about it, and I thought it would be a good move to help the team and give me a shot to make the team. It's a transition, but it's good so far."
Marinelli said the Lions wanted "to get a big, massive blocker over there." Pearson is listed at 6-feet-3, 310 pounds.
"He might have a chance to have a physical presence over there," Marinelli said.

Dan O did show some promise and has a good arm so who knows with him. I just think McCown has such an upside to him
