The fact that I can stil watch the Lions every sunday sure is a testament to football being the best sport on the planet though

Bears fans understand what it's like. IMO, Millen is one of the biggest problems, but not the only one. I do believe that getting rid of him is the first step though. I guess you would know more about your team than I would.

You still got the Thanksgiving Day game against the Joey Harrington led Dolphins to look forward to.

I found a couple positives in this. One, Roy got smacked in his big fat grill. And two. For the first time, the mother****er caught the ball for a first down and we didn't have to watch him get up and signal it to the world like a moron. Glass= at least half full

I really don't even want to talk about it. This team is impossible to figure out. Its amazing how anything can happen to this team at any give moment in time.
NOTHING SUPRISES ME ANYMORE
At least we got Michigan football to watch and the Tigers in the hunt. Oh yeah, the Pistons and the Wings start soon too.
Millen has got to go. The lack of depth on our Oline and talent there negates any talent we have on offense. We get bullied in the trenches every game. Millen blew all of his drafts with the exception of the Roy/KJ draft.....not 1 of his 3 round picks or lower have amounted to ****. Unbelieveable..

IMO, If Millen had any guts he would man-up and re-sign.
The guy is a classless jerk in my book.

END IS NEAR FOR MILLEN
There's increasing talk in league circles that the Lions will be firing CEO Matt Millen sooner rather than later.
Millen, who was hired after the 2000 season by the moribund Motown franchise, has been dreadful in his time with the team, presiding over arguably the worst string of first-round picks in NFL history.
In 2002, the Lions took quarterback Joey Harrington with the third pick in the draft. In 2003, Millen and company selected receiver Charles Rogers with the second overall selection. In 2004, the team used the seventh overall choice on receiver Roy Williams. In 2005, the Lions pounced on free-falling receiver Mike Williams.
Of the quartet, only Roy Williams has panned out, but he's hardly a star. Harrington and Rogers are long gone, and Mike Williams looks to be the next man out.
Although Millen apparently has a Waylon Smithers-type hold on 80-something owner William Clay Ford, word is that owner-in-waiting Bill Ford Jr. has turned in his official Matt Millen fan club secret draft bust decoder ring, and that the younger Ford's departure as CEO from the quaint little motor carriage company that bears the family name will give him greater influence over the football team that the Fords gradually have driven into the ground over the years.
The most intriguing aspect of Millen's seemingly inevitable fate is that the guy signed a contract extension that became effective at the end of the 2005 season. As Millen came under heavy fire last year, there were conflicting reports as to whether the extension is guaranteed. At the end of the day, the real story seemed to be that the money is guaranteed, but that Millen wouldn't accept it if he's fired.
Here's hoping that he's reminded of those words when the Turk makes his long overdue visit to Millen's office. The guy already has gotten far more money than he deserves, and it's time for him to go back to the television booth, where he can spend the garbage time of games explaining the bases for the worst string of personnel moves we can ever remember.

Damn i really do feel bad for the lions. Except when the Giants go to ford field next year and get beat for the upset of the week (it's happened before). But at least Detroit has the tigers, pistons, and red wings. But if you only care about the Lions then that just sucks. I became numb to the giants in 2003 after they lost to the kurt kittner led 1-7 falcons. I only watched one full game after that, the one where we last lost at home to the redskins, only cause i had tickets, and there were many snowmen in the seats, probably more than the fans that showed up. When the draft rolls around, trust me you'll get excited again, and if you don't, then there needs to be a serious movement to get rid of millen. Like a revolution. Tell Millen to step down, or there will be riots. The bottom line is- stick with your team. The giants sucked bad for the whole 70s practically, then turned it around. But then again we hired a good GM in '79 (george Young). Good luck.
