Mike O'Hara reports that Charles Rogers failed another portion of the NFL's substance abuse policy during the offseason. He would have been playing for free if he hadn't been cut on September 2. Rogers has worked out for three teams, reportedly poorly, and has yet to sign with another team. If he signs with another team, he could still face the same four-game penalty.
October 18, Detroit News: Rogers' punishment was for violating the NFL's policy on substance abuse during the offseason by failing to comply with rules related to testing and treatment for players with previous violations.
Rogers, a receiver, was suspended for four games without pay in 2005 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He was released Sept. 2 when the final cuts were made.
Two sources with knowledge of Rogers' situation said the penalty for this year's infraction called for Rogers to play the first four games without pay. The penalty could have been harsher -- up to a one-year suspension -- but the sources said the Lions and the NFL Players Association helped negotiate the lesser penalty.
So, free WR, former No. 2 pick available to anyone. Anyone. Anyone? Bueller?

The Bucs were looking at him right away, but he reportedly looked like absolute **** and they would rather have kept Paris Warren on the roster before signing Rogers, even though Rogers would have actually been cheaper.
If Gruden, an offensive minded coach, views a player to be at that level in his career...chances are, that player has no career.
Rogers has no one to blame but himself.

Also I'm not sure exactly what the deal is with BMW but his career is going the same way as Rogers' did in Detroit, I think Mike has already played his last game as a Lion. The Lions are playing somethin Ellis, an undrafted free agent out of Hofstra over Williams. Who knew Hofstra had such a strong receiving corp last year?
