Default Which Should the Lions do in the 2008 Draft?

Lets assume that the Lions beat the Vikings and the Chiefs (2 teams they have a better record than). This would give them an 8-8 record, which should be a 13-18 pick. What should we do in the 1st, 2nd rounds of the draft.

My Draft Board (In order of importance)

1. Darren McFadden- We won't have a high enough pick to get him with an 8-8 record but, the Lions would be in a spot where they could trade up to get him. Man this would solve our problem of not being able to run and he fits the Lions sytem very well (He can actually catch).

2. James Laurinatis- I watch him play almost every week and he is literally in on every tackle. Just think of him and Ernie Sims on the field at the same time.

3. Antoine Cason- We plain out need a lock-down corner and imo that is just what Cason is. I had been on his band-wagon the whole year but after the Oregon game, It was official.

4. Jammal Charles- Fast, can catch, would simply solve our problem of not being able to run. Heck this guy can run for 200 in the 4th quarter b/c of his speed and playmaker Ability. The best thing is, he will probabally go in the second round.

5. Colt Brennan- Mike Martz best friend. They must be related in some way. We won't draft him though b/c of Stanton

6. Mike Hart- Speed is questionable but he runs harder than anyone is college football. His legs are always moving allowing him to run over people. He would be #3 if he was a little faster.

So heres how I would draft for the Lions this year

1st- McFadden
2nd- Brennan

...Considering that we won't have a high enough pick or won't trade up to get McFadden.

1st- Laurinatis
2nd- Brennan

Or we could trade down and take Brennan/Charles and then have an extra pick. I'm am pretty much sold on Brennan though.

Brennan is going to be a huge bust in the NFL. And you guys drafted a QB in the 2nd last year.

You guys still need players on D, particularly the front 7.

I would go

1st-Quinten Groves or best pass rusher available (larentitus is unrealist too)
2nd- Alex Boone
3rd- Try to trade for Jonathan Vilma (sounds lowball, but he is "damaged goods")

You guys don't need a RB, you need a solid O-line.

front 7 is solid to me, they need secondary players something terrible, nobody in the back 4 can tackle or defend at all

the prototype pick here is Jake Long but assuming they do draft 13-18 he wont be on the board you grab Mike Jenkins, Antoine Cason, Aqib Talib etc.... any "shut down" corner prospect

I like our D-Line but if we have a shot at Chris Long (DE), then I wouldn't mind seeing him in Detroit. I would like Vilma in Detroit but we probabally won't make a trade to get him.

We could use a Tackle and imo we don't even need that. Johnathan Scott was playing good untill he got hurt, Jeff Backus is alright, and Manny Rameriez is going to be a beast later down the road.

Front 7 is pretty solid outside of MLB. Any of them 3 listed corners are fine by me to end up in Detroit.

Safties are pretty good. Gerald Alexander is playing very well and an injury took Daniel Bullocks out for the year. CB is where we are having problems at.

that wouldn't matter if you had McFadden, Martz doesn't run the ball, maybe you guys will draft McFadden as a QB, LOL

I agree he wouldn't get alot of carries but he would get 15-20 a game and would also be another recieving threat. That is why KJones doesn't fit into our sytem imo. A dual-Threat back is a must in Mike Martz offense. Hey, McFadden has thrown some TD passes this year LOL.

I still say passrusher

You guy's run a Tampa 2 and you need consistant pressure from the front 4, you have some good players on the DL, but you dont have that consistant pass rusher that that type of defence needs. CB's arent that important in that defence

I could see OL, but you guys dont need any more skill position guys
