NICHOLAS J. COTSONIKA: Martz can't win no matter how he calls it
November 24, 2007

Mike Martz can't make anybody happy. If he throws the ball, critics say he should run it. If he runs the ball, they say he should throw it. If he gives the ball to this guy, people say he should have given it to that guy.

When the Lions don't win, Martz can't win. Some of it is justified, some of it isn't and some of it is just the way it is. Martz is the offensive coordinator. The offense was supposed to be the Lions' strength this season, but it has been struggling and the Lions have lost three games in a row, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

"The questions were about the defense in the off-season and in training camp," wide receiver Roy Williams said before Thursday's 37-26 loss to Green Bay dropped the Lions to 6-5. "Now our defense is our strong point, and the offense is the question mark. That's just ironic. The offense needs the confidence."

The fans and media aren't the only ones who have gotten on Martz. The people at team headquarters in Allen Park have, too. Williams went on the record with it this week in an interview with WDFN-AM (1130).

Asked if the players weren't on the same page with Martz, Williams said: "Um, we're just not executing, and at the same time, sometimes some of the calls aren't right at the time."

He can win... We could have beat GB if the WR's wouldn't have dropped as many passes. Hes a good coach and I wish they'd promote him to head coach just so he will stay in Detroit. Plus, the defense gave up 30+ points, which is Marlenelli's and the D-Cord's fault.

IMO this week wasn't hardly his fault at all. In fact I can't really blame anyone. A.D is a freak of nature, a man amoung boys... However, letting Tavaris Jackson run all over them was a disgrace.
