Default Lions wide receiver Roy Williams hurts knee

Lions wide receiver Roy Williams hurts knee
Sunday, December 02, 2007

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Detroit Lions wide receiver Roy Williams hurt his right knee in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, ending his afternoon in the second quarter.

The team called his return probable in the second period, when he was seen standing on the sideline wearing a wrap on the knee. But with the game out of reach after Minnesota built a 42-10 lead early in the third quarter, Williams was ruled out for the rest of the day.

Williams caught five passes for 85 yards for the Lions before the injury, including a 43-yard catch down the sideline after an illegal contact penalty on Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin. Williams was tackled at the 3 on that play, setting up a touchdown.

Detroit WR Roy Williams may miss rest of the season
Monday, December 03, 2007

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) Detroit Lions wide receiver Roy Williams is expected to miss the rest of the regular season because of a sprained knee.

Lions coach Rod Marinelli announced Monday that Williams has a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and that he will miss "several weeks." Marinelli said the injury was similar to the one sustained by cornerback Stanley Wilson in the Thanksgiving Day loss to Green Bay, after which Wilson was put on injured reserve.

Detroit also lost reserve safety LaMarcus Hicks to a broken ankle, while cornerback Travis Fisher was undergoing tests on his injured wrist.

Well I guess Calvin Johsnon will get more receptions now, but still this was a big blow to the Lions team.

It'll be nice to see Calvin Johnson get some number one reps.

I agree 200%, lets see what he can actually do and give him a chance to put together a highlight reel.
